In my opinion, the r/w heads have crashed on the surface or malfunctioned so that the voice coil has retracted the heads and will not allow the disk to function, thus the beeping. You have to decide if the data is worth recovering, i.e many bucks for a recovery company to get your data. If you open it up, it will allow dust in that will contaminate the data. In order to recovery the data, the disk has to be opened in a ultra clean environment and the disk taken from that drive and placed in another drives electronics and heads so that the disk will operate and your data can be copied out to another drive. As you can see it is a labor intensive process that will cost. Also the data recovery company cannot or will not guarantee success, and you still pay for them to try.

The connection between the internal hard disk and the interface has failed. Last attempt to save it: dismantle the case, extract the disk and inspect the interface board. If no cracks or other damage is viewable reconnect everything back and try again. If it's the same then the unit is dead, junk it.

Try to scan your Had Drive with updated anti virus it may attacked by a virus. Connect it again where the hard drive is working fine. I have some clarification if you disconnect it properly in the computer where you have the time you use it. Because if you disconnect it in your PC without proper procedure it may possible cause of corrupting you files inside you hard drive or internal damage to your hard drive.

The MAC is not recognizing HDD because it may not be in FAT or MAC OS X Journeled Format.
Please Follow below steps to Reformat the HDD to make it Compatible with MAC.

1. Connect the HDD.
2. Open Disk Utility from Applications -> Utilities
3. On left side of Disk Utility you'll find your HDD.
4. Click on HDD and select the Format TAB.
5. Reformat the HDD in Mac OSX Journeled Format.
6. Click Apply.
7. Done.

P.S. : It will erase everything from your HDD so remember to backup all data before doing this.

There is no replacement for these external hard disks. I suggest you to buy a hard disk dongle (like these ones), open the Seagete case, remove the hard disk, connect this disk at the dongle and connect the dongle at your computer with the usb connection. This solution does not recover your case of the Seagate, but it's easy, effective and cheap. After you recover your files you can schedule buying a new external hard disk.

Well, this will probably void any warranty you have on it, but you can simply remove the plastic casing. At the end of the day it's just a hard drive with a small component with a USB port. When the case is off you can plug it in normally, just be careful that you don't sit the hard drive or components down on anything that will conduct electricity.
