Your error is occurring because the cd/dvd driver is having a problem raeding and transfering data. Click on "start", lower left side of your screen. Find "control panel" and ckick to open. Find "Programs and Features" in your list (maybe an icon) and right click on and open then click continue. In this window click on box with + next to "ATA/ATAPI controllers. You will get a drop down and if you see a red X or yellow triangle or exclamation point, click on that and see if it allows you to update. Now in device manager find DVD/CD Rom drives and click on the box to drop down. If you have red X, etc, click on that. Drp down the window again for dvd/cd rom drives and right click on it. A window will open click on update driver software. Then click search automatically for update devices. It will either say it's up to date or it will recommend update.

I can not copy more that 2 GB toTranscend StoreJet

Hi,
This is most likely because your hard disk is formatted using FAT32 which has a limitation of 2GB file size. Backup your data in another location and format the disk to NTFS and you should be able to copy that big file.

Can not recognize my computer

To assist your further I need to know the model of the StoreJet you have: http://www.transcendusa.com/products/Modlist.asp?CatNo=109&LangNo=0&Func1No=&Func2No=

You can respond to this page with the model number or if you know the model number yourself, just click on that link, select your model, click on Support and Downloads, then click on Driver/Firmware. If that link is unclickable, then click on Software instead. All you have to do now is Download, then Install the StoreJet Elite software.

If this doesn't work, something in that Hard Drive may be corrupt, preventing the computer from recognizing it. If this is the case, you would need to download and run the StoreJet Formatter Utility. This WILL erase all contents on that Hard Drive.

If either of these solutions doesn't resolve your problem, please return to this page and post a response. I will be happy to assist you further.

I have 2 problems ,

Hi,

A cyclic redundancy check, known as a CRC error, often occurs when you're attempting to transfer data to a hard drive. It's most commonly caused by an interruption in the recording process, but also can be a sign that you've got problems with your hard drive or optical drive.

Here are some steps fixed the issue:

Rule out problems with your computer Start by defragmenting your disk. Click the "Windows or Start" button in the lower-left corner of your computer screen and select "Control Panel." Click the "System and Security" icon. Choose "Administrative Tools," then "Defragment your hard drive." This will clear up clutter on your hard drive that could be causing the error

Use the CHKDSK program in Windows to see if there are other problems with your hard drive. Click the Windows or Start button and select My Computer or Computer. Right-click the drive with the CRC error. Choose Properties, then select the "Tools" tab. Click Check Now. Make sure the program will fix disk errors by checking the top square in the dialog box. Click Start.

If the hard drive is not detected by the sytem try if to a different usb. If still fails check the warranty of the drive then call the manufacturer or store you purchase it you might have a bad drive.

Thanks for using Fixya.

First, if you're using a version of Microsoft Windows, right click "My Computer" and in the menu, click "Manage"...
On the left hand side you should see "Disk Management"... Click on that and give it a few moments... If it pops up there, you're doing good so far...
It will give you some details about your drive, if it's healthy or not, partitioned/formatted or not etc...
You'll probably have to format it to have it work and show up on your computer.
Hopefully, it's not broken! I hate buying used parts that are broken...

In this case you should use data recovery software to try recovering the files and data, provided those lost data are not fully overwrtten.

Be careful: Before your files are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the HDD in case the original files are overwritten.

I have 250gb externanl hdd and it is not decting

An external storage-device has four major components:

* the USB cable

* the power-adapter

* the disk-drive inside the enclosure

* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure.

One of these components has failed.

Try a different USB cable.

Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.

Try connecting to a USB port on a different computer.

Take a "multi-meter" and measure both the voltage and amperage output from the AC adapter, and compare with the specifications on the label on the adapter.

Open the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive, and then connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if it works at all.

Purchase a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it in the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.

Get the part-number and serial-number from the label on your disk-drive, and access the manufacturer's web-site, and use "check warranty status", to see if they will replace the device, at minimal cost to you.

There exist commercial "data recovery" services that can try to repair your device, just long-enough to rescue and copy your files. For example, see: https://services.seagate.com/index.aspx?lng=en-US for a "no data - no charge guarantee".
