Sirius Satellite Radio Sirius Sportster SP-R1 Satellite Radio Receiver Questions & Answers
The dispaley states "aquiring antenna" but never finds it,can this be fixed?
Yes. However, it depends on what is causing the acquiring signal message. It could be that you just have to replace the dock or
antenna. But it could also mean the unit is going bad, in which case it would need to be repaired. www.tss-radio.com has a repair guy, though with that unit being discontinued for as long as it has, he may not have parts. You may have to search around for a replacement on amazon or ebay.
How much does it cost
How much does what cost? The service? The radio? A docking station? A replacement typically goes for somewhere around $80. You could also get a whole new kit for around that price. Equipment ranges from $20-$80 depending on what you need to get. Here is a good source for replacements: tss-radio.com

Antenna not detected could be caused by one of three things: The antenna, the docking station, or the receiver. If you have other equipment to troubleshoot, you can narrow down what is causing your issue and replace it. tss-radio.com is a good source for parts and trouble shooting ;)

Hello
Well, you disconnected the live chat we had going??
I am assuming that you still have a manual for the device.
I will suggest that you first try to reset the device as described in the manual.
If this does not work i will suggest that you upgrade the firmware of the device. If the device is under the warrenty period, just send it back and they will upgrade it for free, it is hoever a difficult task to do yourself.
Let me know if the reset works, otherwise i will assist you in the firmware upgrade process.
Kind regards
Andrea
Doesn't receive and displays
The "hideaway tuner" is bad. On the antenna input board there is a cold solder joint and it looses it's ground. If it's out of warranty you can get a rebuilt tuner on Ebay for about 50.00 This has been a huge issue among sat radio users for the past three years. The rebuilt units are better than the new ones. Hope this helps

Sirius Sportster SP-B1 Boombox
Your best best is to replace the units. Sirius usually does it for free for existing customers. You can a good discount on a new boombox as well. The new models are designed to work with more Sirus receivers on the market.
SIRUIUS SPORTSTER
Satellite radio antennas do tend to fail sometimes. In the early days of Sirius/XM they were made a lot better, but now I've had problems with them a lot more frequently. If the antenna is plugged in securely and it still shows the 'antenna' error code, you most likely need to replace your antenna.
It is possible that something else along the antenna signal path is causing your problem - Sometimes the antenna connections in the dock or the receiver itself can cause the issue, but most likely it is the antenna.
Fuse problem
I see that you have your adapter and as far as I can tell with this type of problem you may have look at sending it back just because I think your wiring is faulty on the inside or your base station where your radio would sit...there may not be no contact on your station prongs that a connect to the radio. The docking staion connectors may be faulty and need to be replaced. I would beleive this to be relevent to the problem you just described.
Can't get XM channels
Goto sirius.com. You will need to access you account and find out if your radio is upgradeable for XM channels. You can find that out once you try to add xm to your account.
If it isn't you can get a free or a discounted radio from them to do it by calling customer service up. They do that for existing customers.
