Canon PowerShot A495 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
Camera won't turn on
It has a serious problem, go to the Canon site or click on this link. you may want to repair it. I would not because of the expense, a new camera might be a better choice. But call on it first and check prices.
Why won't my Powershot A495 take a photo?
iIt seems that the battery is low or not powerful enough to run the camera properly. when the camera notices there is not enough power it will automatically shut down. ensure the battery is fully charged up on the charger and then try it. the battery type is Canon NB-3L and if the camera is a few years old or has been stored for a long time the battery may need to be replaced.
if all these have been done and still the problem persists i would recommend a dealer have a look at the camera.
to replace battery open slider plate on bottom of camera and flip tab to release the battery pack.
I hope this was useful.
Memorycard lock
Also be sure you did not press the card in the wrong way around. Check the contacts on both the memory card and in the camera.
Check if the card is still working when placed in an external memory card reader, connected to the PC.
Look for the switch on the left side.
Before you put it in a camera it should be like the card on the left, the 64GB card. Switch up.
Whereismemorycard
If you are looking for the memory card in the camera, just open the battery door. There between the battery and the back side of the camera you find the memory card.
Screen blacks when i insert my memory card
Only insert and remove memory cards when the camera is shut down. Before you go on with this memory card, check in a PC with a cardreader if the memory card is ok. Onlty when you are sure it is working good, go on. Perhaps you have another memory card to test in your camera. Please switch it of and check if the battery (ies) having enough capacity.
I havent drivers for canon A495
Hi Sadia Exactly what kind of drivers are you looking for? All the software etc. that you normally need is bundled on a CD when you buy the camera. Failing that, you can go to
www.powershot.com where there is a vast library of downloadable drivers and software available.Hope this helps
How do you convert it to infra red
Take your camera apart and find the ccd.it will be under the yellow wiring ribbon like in this picture
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Disassembling+Canon+Powershot+SD880+Flash/4647/1remove the ir blocking filter, reassemble the camera check the focusing if no problems your ok, if you get problems then google how to remove ir coating from the glass filter you have just removed then replace it.I purchased a Canon SX130 IS and did exactly what i have described (no problems with focusing). I use a piece of floppy disk cut to the size of the lens and permanently taped on and i find it yields some awesome results. Google chdk and photoshop ir actions
Memory card locked
SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
