Aurora Global AS501X-MS Shredder Questions & Answers
Purchase gears
This is an inexpensive, light duty shredder. Products such as this are considered 'throw-away products' ; when they break, you throw it away and buy a new one. Larger, more expensive commercial shredders are repairable.
Lubricate with what product
It's amazing how easy it is to lubricate a shredder, at least the blades portion of the shredder. Go to your local Staples store, or else order on line. They sell lubrication sheets for all shredders. I bought a dozen for less than $10 and they work great. You just insert the sheet and shred it. The unit is lubricated. The Staples part number I got was their part number 602400. Good luck..
Aurora shreader stopped working
here is a very small micro interlock switch on the bottom left hand corner of the unit. This switch needs to sit securely on a small shelf protrusion that comes out of the base basket. If the switch isn't properly pressed the unit will not operate. If you search the bottom corners you'll see the tiny switch. If you press it the shredder will begin to work again. You just have to reseat the unit into it's original base and the little shelf will press it for you.

Hi,
Many people have looked for parts for their shredders, only to find that there are none...
Seems as though they build them to be thrown out and replaced...not repaired...
Sorry, but there are no replacement parts for most shredders...

Can hear motor running when
Most likely the switch that that detects the paper present is damaged when the jam-up occured. Can you see the switch and is there any paper still jammed. Make sure you unplug it when you dig around.
Also does it work in forward when you put it in manual mode?
Doesn't work going forward only in reverse
sounds like you have a sensor problem. is it automatic reversing on jamb? if so sensor is defective, or there is a bind causing sensor to reverse only, a bent shaft could cause that
I can't get the folder
Hi,
This is strange. First do a reverse switching. Sometimes if there are stuck paper in the jaws it will come back out in reverse. Now unplug the unit, turn the head upside down and with a small flathead screwdriver or a knife plug out pieces of paper. It is tough but by digging small pieces out, a little at a time, you can get most of the paper free. If this does not work then for sure the bearing operating the jaws on one end have gone bad and needs to be replaced. Please let me know if this does not help else please accept it.

I have the Aurora shredder, model number
Clean it (unplugged) with a vacuum periodically. Dump the can regularly - dont wait for the light to tell you it is full. Get some shredder oil at the big box store and follow the directions on the back
