My dishes don't dry in

It might be helpful if you provide the model number.

For proper drying of dishes you need to make sure the Rinse aid is set at the right level plus the drying fan is working.
Some dishwashers also use the hot air by running the heater. If the heater is not working then drying can be affected.

Also might help to read this post.

Standing water in the bottom

I am assuming this is a new problem with a machine which was newly hooked up?

If otherwise, more information would be needed like how the machine was working prior, for how long, any changes to the plumbing, or other in the house or moving the machine, etc., etc...

Based upon the limited information provided: Perhaps a pinched drain line or other like the drain hose my be too high (where it drains into the houses plumbing).

It is filled with water

Hi

Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Top rack rolls out spontaneously

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

It sounds like perhaps the unit is either not level ( leaning forward slightly ) or the rack bearings are worn thus the rack slides forward, especially when loaded with dishes.

To adjust the legs on the Viking/Asko dishwashers you`ll need to access the front or rear legs or both and either screw them up or down...then lock the nuts in place.

i.e.

ebd1af9.jpg

...However if the rack rollers are worn, the bearings are tricky. There is usually evidence of them wearing ( but not always ) in the form of gray plastic pieces being found in the tub...

i.e.

06db715.jpg

Here's what works for me, move the rack stops to the left if you haven't already and then the rack itself.

i.e.

1d854c5.jpg and

cb82cce.jpg

Now you'll need to remove the bumpers at the back of the rack rail...

i.e.

push down on the bumper as shown

a6e3c04.jpg
and pull it down and out at the same time...it takes some force, you can use a small screwdriver.

045c1a4.jpg
Now you'll need to slide the rail all the way out as shown, but careful not to let the ball bearings fall into the sump area in the process.

d5605f4.jpg
I usually hold the broken piece in place while removing the rail...

391dc9f.jpg

The trick now is to install the balls into the holders first...

9177d05.jpg
and the holders into the stationary part of the rail on the inside wall...

9c58331.jpg

The inside wall rail will keep the holders in place as you slide the inside rail into place...this will usually require holding the holder with one hand while pushing the sliding rail back into place...

2b91ed0.jpg

Once this is done, re-install the back rail bumpers followed by the rack and then finally the front rack stoppers and that should do it.

Hope that explain it for you or gives you an idea of "what" and "how" it needs to be done.

Thanks for choosing FixYa today for your repair help. Let me know if you require further assistance.

Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

No lights on program buttons.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. To start with check the drain hose for any clogs and try to clean the hose and the drain pump filter. If the issue is still not resolved then the electronic control has gone bad and should be replaced. However, before replacing the control you can try to take it apart and blow some air with the help of hair dryer on the control so that if there is any moisture, this blows it off. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

I don't know how to

Hi.

The cycle is started simply by pressing start button when the light is on and steady, then closing the door. If Start is not on, then there is a problem. In that case check baset positions, water inlet and ensure that the door latch is clicking.

Here procedure :

1. Load the dishes per recommended loading.
2. Make sure there is rinse agent in the dispenser . Add rinse
agent if needed.
3. Add proper amount of detergent and pre-wash.
4. Push both top and bottom racks in.
5. Select the desired cycle and option(s).
6. Press “START”. The “START” symbol will illuminate to
ndicate the unit is ready.
7. Close the door tightly until you hear a click. Otherwise, the dishwasher will not start.

If you need the manual for your specific model, click here , scroll down and download the manual

My 450 pro Viking dishwasher

Ok so your dishwasher won't do anything... it justs sits there and "Hums" you can't make it respond to any controls, and the ONLY way to Stop it. is to unplug the unit, replugging back in it simply "Hums" again and will do nothing.
Now this happens because, the STOP Button, is pressed and the "Door Opened", during the Wash Cycle. This should NOT be done. You shouldNEVER TURN IT OFF MID-CYCLE. you should instead, Simply, pull on the handle, to Open the door, the system will take care of everything, after, you close it,and pick up where it left off. The turning OFF, makes the machine "Think" that a New Cycle, is going to be done, before the old one is finished, and resets itself to do it all again. But it still has water, that's not meant to be there so it must dump it out.
Now, the FIX. Take the Dishwasher, out, and tip over on it's side, tip to about a 45' angle. Water will come out from underneath, this is from a small "Overflow" reservoir. this reservoir has an "Anti-Flood" switch. The removing of this water will "Reset" this Switch, and allow the dishwasher to work again.
So what happens, is this, when the STOP button is pressed Mid-Cycle, the machine must "Dump" whatever water is still in the machine, into the "Overflow Reservoir". This water then causes the Anti-flood switch to jam, and this stops the machine, until it is reset,by the above method.

try the above frst.

I need to get a nasty smell out of dw

you can try a product available at appliance parts stores called YSANO and follow the directions on the bottle. you can also try dumping in the bottom of the dishwasher about 6 - 8 cups of white vinegar and running the machine without dishes in it. hope this helps.

My dishwasher does not start when shut the door.

Check that you have power to the machine. The door lock has a switch on it that if opened shuts the DW off during operation( adding extra dishes). This switch can fail and cause the DW not to start. Carefully examine the door interlock for dammage(bent parts, broken off pins, ect). If necessary you will have to open the case at the top of the door to inspect the switch. I the plunger on the witch is stuck down in the body of the switch then it is probably bad. They can be checked with a multimeter. Some DW's will have 1 switch many have 2-3 on the door interlock.
