Viking DFB450 Tripping breaker in pots and Pans, normal, econo, cycle after prewash drains and fill. Heater or pump/motor bad? Does the pump have 2 speeds?

Dave, You may have a bad breaker. Have you tried replacing the breaker? I would not think you heating element was bad unless it didn't heat up. If the pump works at all then the pump should be ok. If it does not work and you have power going to the pump motor then it may be causing a phase to ground resulting in the tripped breaker.

The three lights for Pots & Pans, Normal Wash,

Hello, Welcome to FixYa. I can't seem to access any previous post dialog that may have taken place but I'd like to help if you can fill me in on whats taken place to this point. The scenario you describe is usually associated with a drain problem/back-up or overfill situation...if it is indeed the Viking (built by Asko) DFB450. I'll wait for you reply to see whats been done or suggested and checked to this point. Regards, Macmarkus :)

I have a Vicking DFB450

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description, " 3 lights are blinking together, normal, eco and light " as you may or may not know this is indicating a power loss. This info can be found in the owners manual so most owners are aware of this.

If you require a manual let me know I can send you one via email if you provide an email address.

The first place I'd be checking is the terminal where the machine connects to the home electrical supply at the bottom as illustrated here...you do not need to remove the unit from the counter.

**Turn the power off at your home circuit panel before servicing the unit please...safety first**

There is a possibility the control itself is at fault, but I would first rule out any other possible cause such as the electrical box, wires going to the control ( they can become severed at the pivot point inside the door panel ).

Let me know what you find and I'll try and assist you further if need be. Thank you for choosing FixYa and good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Viking VDW302SS--trying to pump out water that isn't there

If your machine is trying to pump out water that is not there, check the float level sensor. That is the detector that checks for water level during filling. If the pipe/mechanism is blocked, in the full position, the sensor will indicate that there is still water to be pumped out ... that is assuming the water has been pumped out otherwise look for a blockage in the outlet pipe.

2 related questions. The first is that when I pull the top rack of my Viking dishwasher out, the rack extends too far out and escapes the track on the left side (pic). Also, as soon as I open the door, the top rack starts slowly sliding out on its own. Any help would be great! Thank you.

Your dishwasher probably isn't level front to rear. As for the track problem, there could be a missing stop or some damaged hardware. The racks are supposed to be removable but not on their own.
