Problem with DP46848 LCD TV

Tconn connections most likely. The thin ribbon connectors that go from the top of the T con up to the Drve board in the LCD panels Frame are the usual ones . Un ock them reseat and then lock them and it should solve the issue for you.

the longest time I have seen one remain on is about one minute and if longer you may have a problem---could shorten the life of the back light etc.

Sanyo DP42849 has no power lights illuminated

Sounds like a power supply failure, but you will need to get it diagnosed to be sure.

Sanyo DP42849 no picture but has sound

Sounds like an inverter problem. On some of these sets, the inverter and the power supply are on the same board. These boards tend to be quite pricey, $100 + range. I've worked on your particular model with the same problem, and it was a bad inverter/power supply board. I would recommend you get a diagnosis to be sure.

This is most likely going to be a color wheel. I would recommend checking on the color wheel first. If this is a dlp tv it could also be a lamp that went out.

42" Sanyo LCD, can a squealing transformer on power board be repaired/replaced

yes you can repair or replace the transformer. A transformer is basically a set of two inductors that sometimes has a core to aid in field transmission. The magnetic field induced in one creates a voltage on the other side. There are 3 types of transformers, step up (voltage on the secondary coil is greater than the input voltage) step down (less voltage on the secondary) and isolation (voltage is the same on both sides, used to isolate more sensitive circuits from voltage fluctuations). If you want to repair it all you need to do is get motor wire of the same gauge and make sure you use the same number of winding, going the same direction, that originally came off the transformer for the proper power transmission. You might also be able to figure out the winding ratio and go to an electronics dealer (i suggest online because there doesn't seem to be a lot of local dealers anymore, but maybe you live somewhere big enough you can find it locally), Digikey.com is my preferred place, and find a like transformer in a like package (housing) and then simply desolder it from the board and solder in the new one (easier said than done if its a surface mount). This is a very cheap solution, but it will be time consuming, and as I have found you either pay with your wallet or your time. I hope this helps! :)

All of a sudden the screen on one side starts to get like a black shadow, when you push the tv back it clears

This sounds like a cable somewhere is not firmly seated or loose. If just one side has the issue most of these sets use one large or two smaller boards---inverter boards is usual name.Someone who knows what they are doing needs to open and GENTLY probe with a plastic tool to locate area where it is.If pinpointed to a single board and not a loose connection that board needs replacement.

My sanyo lcd goes black but i still hear sound.

see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:ISSUES: 1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.Answers to issues:1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not. Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom. What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have tobuy and try a board to see if it fixes it or not.4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.3_29_2012_12_14_08_pm.jpg
