Whenever I take close up photos with a white cloth background it comes out blue, even in natural light. I use the auto feature as it works well for my jewellery it's just the colour balance I need

The exposure meter in your camera is underexposing due to the white background. Try adding up to two stops of positive exposure compensation. What you are seeing as blue is in fact grey - it may be an idea to calibrate your monitor as well.

Formatting the card will delete all the data on it. Buy a new card for use now, then use data recovery software on your computer to try to salvage the contents of the original card.

Canon G11 won't start

Possible Solutions. 1. Charge the battery 2. If still not turning on, try using a little rubbing alcohol and wiping the battery terminal(s) on the battery and the battery terminals in the camera. Use a QTip and allow to completely dry before recharging the battery or inserting it into the camera. 2. Replace the battery with new one. 3. On/Off switch may be defective on camera. Charger may be defective. Wire connecting power from charger to wall socket may be improperly connected or loose.

G11 powershot 'Lens Error restart camera' mesage

Lens probably does not retract because of debris or a misaligned gear box. The lens can in about 50% of the cases be repaired without having to replace it. Try to return to manufacturer first. If you're out of warranty, there are third party place that fix them such as camera lens repairs. If you want to do it yourself, there are also free camera repair guide websites that show you how to replace the lens, the replacement part is usually available on ebay.

Line through photos

does it also show up when you display the images on the camera? if so, its probably a camera issue, if not re-install the camera driver and program - it might solve this problem good luck

My display shuts off when I close it against the housing...facing me.

It sounds like you have a menu setting that turns it off or a bad switch and the screen thinks it's being closed with the screen facing in. Try doing a reset to factory default through the menu.

Why does my Camera not respond to several of its buttons and the shaky icon is always on?

several things can cause this including a bad ribbon cable and a worn out button pad, or just a bad switch. Time for a tech to look at it. If you're feeling froggy, open it up and replace the button pad. Canon will send you another and may not even charge you.

Change the canon camera video recording setting bw to colors

This might be a good time to read the manual in book form or in pdf form, but I believe it is in the section "Changing the tone of an image".

Lens error restart

Normally just recharging / replacing the camera battery will allow the lens to retract. If not. Switch on the camera and GENTLY apply pressure to the lens at the same time. If not, im afraid it's off to the camera repair shop.

Remove date and time from uploaded photos

Once the date has been stamped onto the picture, it's just as much a part of the photo as anything else in there. Whatever might have been there before under the numbers is gone. You can crop it out, or mask it, or remove it by editing the photo, the same way you might get rid of a garbage can or other unwanted object in the corner.

The screen went white after/when I pressed the shutter button on my G11... sometimes it's ok, then it goes white again. What's wrong?

This is most often a problem with either the main board, the lcd screen or a connection between the two. If you need help with that one, the place that you can have it serviced is: www.camerasandparts.com All they deal with are the service for the Canon Powershot cameras. Not expensive at all and the work through them is superb. Hopefully that helps get you in the right direction with it. Good luck

G11 lens error and would

Personally I wouldn't mess with it anymore, I know a lot of people say to push and pull on the lens and I don't think that's the best option especially since the focus is messed up now. I would just have it serviced and get it going right, maybe a part is damaged in there from when the lens got jammed. If you need help with it, try emailing this site: www.camerasandparts.com They just deal with problems on the Canon Powershots so my guess is they'll know right away what the problem is. If you need to have it serviced, they are excellent for help with these cameras and not expensive at all. Best of luck with the problem.
