Nikon D3000 Digital Camera - Page 8 Questions & Answers
I cannot get my camera
This problem is frequently due to a buildup of corrosion on the battery terminals and contacts in the camera. The buildup may or may not be visible, and it happens often if a camera is not used regularly.
Remove the battery, then wipe all contacts firmly with a clean dry cloth. Heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper. After cleaning, make sure that no residue remains in the battery compartment, reinstall the batteries, and give them a good charge.
If this does not cure the problem, check the "charged" batteries with a voltmeter, try them in another device, and/or try other batteries in your camera. If your camera battery is more than a year old, chances are that it needs to be replaced.
HINT: Always remove the batteries if your camera will not be used for a week or more. Doing so will extend the life of the batteries and prevent damage to the camera.

Nikon D3000. Exposure lock with focus problem.
Probably your lens causes this I think. Please check these.
1. Your lens may cause this. Change it and try again. If you do not have another lens then go on to check the next instrutions.
2. Check your lens AF button. It should be switched to AF.
3. Turn off and on the camera and try again.
4. Check your battery charging.
5. Your lens should be cleaned complitely. Please check its clearity.
I think it will work. But if it does not work properly again then your camera should be checked.
Clean your camera mirror. For this:
1. Turn off your camera.
2. Remove your lens.
3. Clean your mirror without using water or any other liquid or any other chemicals. Use only special cleaning liquid that is made for lens cleaning.
4. If it does not work then your camera body should be checked electronically and mechanically. This check can only be done with an authorized service tecnician. So you should send your camera to your service dealer.

D300 can be found scarcely new. It has been replaced with a newer model D300S. The D300S incorporates video and both SD and CF capability for extended uses of writing the photos. One card can be used as backup, or one can be used to write RAW files and the other JPEGs. Some slight changes were added to the menu {active D-lighting}, and the D300S also was give a slight boost to 7FPS. Used D300 on the market go for $900 - $1300 depending on its history.
Pls help me...just bought my nikon d3000..but
Slide the latch and open the door. If the battery doesn't slide out partway, hold the camera in one hand and put the other hand below the open battery door and give the camera a gentle shake. Once the battery comes out partway, grasp it and GENTLY pull it out the rest of the way.
Can you fit canon eos 888 lenses on nikon d3000
No. Nikon bodies are slightly thicker than Canon bodies. This allows a thin mount to adapt Nikon lenses to Canon bodies and still allow focusing to infinity. While an adapter for Canon lenses to Nikon bodies is theoretically possible, it would not allow the lens to focus to infinity. Thus, no one bothers to make one.
If you have access to a good machine shop...
Why won't my aperture go lower than 5.6?
You do have total control, within the constraints of the hardware. The 18-55mm lens has a maximum aperture range of f/3.5 to f/5.6. This means that at 55mm the maximum aperture is f/5.6. You can go the other way, all the way to f/38. At shorter focal lengths you can open up as far as f/3.5.
If you want a larger aperture, you'll have to get a faster lens. For example, Nikon has a 17-55mm f/2.8 lens which has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 at all focal lengths. It also costs $1300 new.

Nikon d3000
Yes. You can always remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into a card reader. Many laptops and netbooks come with card readers. If your laptop doesn't have one, you can buy an inexpensive card reader that plugs into either USB or FireWire, as appropriate.
This is actually the preferred way of transfering pictures. This is often faster, and also conserves the camera's battery.
If you do go and buy a card reader, I'd also suggest a second memory card, if you don't already have one. You don't want to have to cut short your day's photography just because you filled your one and only card.

When viewing photos it?s striped/fuzzy
Try pressing the up/down on the multiselector. Does that change the view? If so, you've just discovered how to cycle through different views of the image.
If that doesn't do anything, then do the menu and info screens come up correctly, or are they also striped or fuzzy? If so, then the camera may need servicing.
