NS-DCC5HB09 High Definition Flash Media Camcorder: mine wont turn on and i dont have a charger!!! Hel...

You should be able to recharge this unit by connecting to your PC and charging through your USB connection.

If your battery is faulty or unable to recharge, here's a replacement battery that's available:

http://bestbuy.partsearch.com/GetModel.aspx?MfgName=Best+Buy+Company+Incorporated&BrandName=Insignia&ModelNumber=NSDCC5HB09&Page=1&SortBy=brandname&SortDirection=asc

Just about any AC to USB charger will work to recharge this unit, so if you have an iPod with the iPod wall charger, use the correct USB cable with the wall charger and you will be able to recharge the battery in the camcorder.

Hope this helps!

What do i need to transfer video from my insignia

The best solution I have found for Mac is to use either Handbrake or FFmpegX. Both are free transcoding applications on the web.

Perform a Google search, download, and start transcoding.

Handbrake I believe is all-inclusive as a single installable package.

FFmpegX requires you to download libraries and create relationships between the App and these libraries so it's a little more challenging to work with.

Hope this helps!

I have a problem similar to some posted but not

If memory serves, this unit requires the battery to be in place and functional to have the camcorder work properly...so your prognosis of a failed battery would be appropriate.

Go Here: http://www.batteriesplus.com/products/546-0/6354-Camcorder-Batteries/437138-Insignia/NS--DCC5HB09/1.aspx

This should be the correct battery for the camcorder.

hope this helps!

Memory Card Stuck in slot

Disassembly and repair isn't something for the faint of heart nor the inexperienced with tools. If you don't have the best buy extended warranty for this device and since it's been over a year, your options are slim.

It is possible to repair the spring mechanism on these devices, but you'll need some fine tiped screwdrivers bowls for parts, a good memory for where parts came from to be put back, annd a lot of patience.

The spring is a leaf spring on the bottom of the card slot and the retention clip is on the right about half-way into the card slot.

I wish you the best of luck with your repair.

No image on LCD screen

It sounds like you're receiving partial information on the LCD screen and that the image sensor isn't sending information to the screen.

If you know the sensor is working by recording some video on an SD card and being able to view the recorded video on your PC, then there is a disconnect between the LCD and the image sensor.

If you are not recording video to your SD card and only get black images or no files, the image sensor is damaged.

If you are recording video, but no image appears on your LCD for internal viewing/playback, you can try a firmware update if one is available from www.insigniaproducts.com, but this is a discontinued item so there's not much available for support.

Hope this helps!

Camera won,t turn on or take a charge

If there is a firmware solution on Insignis-Products, you might be able to restore the camcorder to life that way.

However, if the unit won't turn on at all...even when a USB AC charger is used where it should function normally and completely...there is a problem with the camcorder and it may be bricked.

I hope this helps and I hope your camcorder isn't bricked.

Camcorder will not turn on without being plugged

If the camera is turning on and is able to be used normally while plugged in to an AC wall pack, but not using the battery, there is probably a problem with either the battery or the internal power switch to go from AC to battery.

Check the battery with a voltmeter to insure you have a fully charged battery. It would also be a good idea to use the voltmeter on the camcorders power tabs to make sure the camcorder is passing the correct voltage to the battery. The amount of volts should match the volts on the battery.

If it's a battery issue, batteries plus has a replacement for this camcorder. If not, it's a switch within the camera (software most likely) and there's not much you can do other that try to reload the camcorders firmware if it is available fromt eh Insignia-Products web site.

Hope this helps!

Have you tried using an AC to USB charger?

I know that some products that charge through a USB port are not able to completely and correctly charge from the computers USB port because it is undervolted for what the device needs. (I have the same issue with my cell phone).

Also, may of a computers USB ports will power enough for data transfer, but not enough for charging the unit.

Try using an AC to USB power supply and not the computers USB ports.

Hope this works!

Green light staying on and when opened it isn't

The green light is stating the unit is active and ready to be used.

A couple of tests you can do to narrow down the potential problem is to:

1) rotate the screen (but do not force it) and see if you get the screen to come on.

2) insert a headphone jack into the headphone port and see if the video output wasn't inadvertantly directed to the composite out.

3) connect to a TV using the HDMI connection. You should be able to see the menu screen on the TV and will be able to scroll through the settings to see if there is a switch set to output to another device (although I don't remember that feature for this unit).

4) Check www.insigniaproducts.com for a firmware update and see if that doesn't correct your problem.

If none of these tests yield a correction to your situation, the camcorder is faulty and should be returned or used as a science project.

Hope this helps!

I just bought an insignia ns-dcchb09 on ebay and

Yes there is a specific battery that works with these camcorders that was supplied by the manufacturer. No replacement battery was available for these units either.

If the seller sent you the wrong battery in the unit, the seller is liable.

Hope this helps!

Insignia camcorder will not turn on

You can try plugging in a headphone plug into the A/V port to see if it's a stuck switch (A/V port can sometimes turn off the video to the LCD display).

Otherwise thsi sounds like a loose data ribbon to the LCD. You'll need a small screwdriver and lots of patience to disassemble the unit and put the data cable back in place. If this doesn't solve the problem, then there's a more serious issue like a failed solder joint or a bad component.

Has this unit ever been dropped or banged around?

Hope this helps!

When I transfer video from my Insignia Camcorder

This is a codec issue and can be most easily resolved by installing the software and drivers that came with your camcorder. Alternatively, several codec packs are available for download by internet search. Insignia recommends ArcSoft MediaImpression software for editing and playback.

My Insignia NS-DCC5HB09 is out of focus. Anything

Hello. on the side opposite the screen there is a small switch, the macro/portrait/standard switch. Move that switch from one position to other a few times in hopes of freeing up the lens which appears to be frozen in one position. If all of that fails, you will have to return the camera for a repair. Hopefully, it is still under warranty. Incidentally, for what it is worth, this is a common problem in this camera. Good luck with it . Joe
