It could be a timer, relay or valve actuator overheating. You are smart to worry about a fire ANYTIME you smell something hot like that. I wouldn't use it until you get it checked out. GOOD LUCK!!!

Probably as the heater cuts in and means the element will need replacing.

Could be that top spray arm needs replacing if it has one. Or maybe it’s not getting enough water and water valve needs replacing or maybe the bottom spray arm is no longer telescoping and needs replacing

Which sub model Elite? Fault or failure codes are usually machine specific. THe generic e25 means the drain is clogging. Clear the drain and rinse before washing any more dishes - remove food debris before loading it to prevent a reoccurrence.

Try unplugging it, or if you can't unplug it, turn the breaker off at the breaker box and leave it off for about 10 minutes to reset the values on the dishwasher. Good luck...

Take two screws out of the baseboard cover and remove it. There should be a Tech Sheet there in a plastic pouch which will show what error 25 means and that may help you determine how to fix the problem. It will also explain how to Reset the machine and make the error code go away, at least until the next time it detects the error. Usually the reset is done by pressing and holding a certain pair of buttons on the control panel.

Take bottom spray arm out and motor / pump cover off. You should be able to see it. Can be tricky getting new one back in place.

The contact on the end off the cycle in the switch is bad you try to clean it or replace the main switch,all the best.

not sure if you have a plastic arm that spins under or over the dishes, but mine did. I noticed that the holes where the water came through were plugged by calcium and food. I took a sewing needle and cleaned out the holes. It then sprayed water again. Hope this helps.
