I cannot tell you what the error is, but perhaps I can give you some tips on how to solve the problem. First, try to read the SD card on your computer. Is it formatted? if not, format to FAT 32. Are there any file structures? If so, erase and format the SD card to FAT 32. If these activities do not work, then try with another SD or SDHC card (type 10 if possible) and see if the error is replicated. From there, recommend contacting Canon customer support for assistance.

Hi , it is also located on the box , it came in on the bar code , i had problems reagistaring it as well off the camera , the box has a couple extra zero's in it i believe. good luck

You will need a 3.5 to rca ( RED,WHITE,YELLOW) , then select the input source video, 1,2 or 3 pending what tv you have , if you have no rca inputs and just a screw in cable input , you can buy a converter for around 20 bucks , good luck

go into the settings and switch to external mic and dont use the mic. or if you have an on off switch on the mic switch to off , its cumbersome but works. I have forgot to plug it in all the way and that too works gives you video no sound. you dont need a new camera , good luck

I know it's probaly pointless in 2014 to post this, but all you need to do is rename the video file so that it has an ".AVI" extension (Google "show extension names on Mac" if you need to). The ".PGI" file is used only by the camera, and is not used for any type of decoding on other devices (meaning you don't need it, and should just delete them).

The serial number is on the bottom of the camcorder.If you simply want to install the software for a camcorder, you can tell the installation program the model and serial number of any camcorder from the same manufacturer.

It's listed on the Canon warranty card that came with it. Hope that helps.

Do you have iMovie? On mine, with any camcorder I've had, when I have iMovie running and plug the camcorder in it automatically changes to the Record mode. Click on the forward button and it will start the camcorder. Press the Record button when you get to the part you want to record. You can then edit the beginning or end of the section to use the portion(s) you want. The software controls the camcorder to go frontwards or backwards. Works very slick. Not sure what to suggest if you don't use iMovie.

does the camera have a built in hdd or does it use dvd discs?
if its got a hdd then you will have to connect the usb for the camera to your computer. the computer will then install the driver software for the camera. when that is complete you should get an autoplay menu on your screen. select access files and folders and you should see all your videos and pictures displayed there. now just a matter of copying and pasting to your another folder on your computer. pretty straight forward.
same process goes for the dvd except you may have to go to my computer, right click on the d: drive and select open files. copy and paste from there to your computer.

To find the serial number remove the battery and look for the serial number next to a qr code.
