I had the same problem and my suspicion was right, it was a hardware problem. I dismanteled the camcorder quite a lot to get access to the record button, but nothing to check there, it is a small switch which should never fail. So I followed the flexprint from there until the point where it is plugged to the board. I shortcutted the two wires and..... it started recording! So the only problem was a bad contact on that plug, the flexprint was a bit loose, maybe already since production or got loose over the years. In fact you only need to take off the right side cover (seen from the rear),underneath you will find the hard disk. Lift the hard disk on the upper side, it is not fixed by screws, just two rubber strips hold it in place. You will see the blue flexprint and the plug. The contacts for the record button are the two utmost to the right. The print can be moved out and put back when you lift the black clamp on the white plug. Good luck, Dietmar

I think your video is in a wrong format or resolution.
so what you need to do is use a video converter to convert the videos to the right format and resolution.
Then I recommend this one to you which I have used for long time.
you can get more information here with the link for the Best Video converter I ever used.

I presume the error is in between cam CPU and the Data Battery. Check your battery contact and camera's battery terminals and clean especially the pin marked "c". This contact is the link between BATTERY and CAMERA CPU so that your cam knows how much power left in your battery. Sometimes a DC JACK failure or defective battery shows the same warning. Good Luck!

The problem is a sensor inside has malfunctioned. This sensor detects temp because of operating conditions of the camera. You might need to seek warranty or replacement repair on this if not the bill will be kinda hefty to pay.

The issue here is you going to need a new logic board inside because the sensor is on the board integrated.

There would be software CD supplied with camcorder, check packing/ box for that CD and if it is lost, you can buy that CD from JVC Accessories Store.

I think your battery is 100% OK, if the power supply is perfect there may be problem with the switch, clean it with contact cleaner spray often press the switch several times.
if the switch contacts are not connecting, this will help it to clear it.
open the cam, check the power supply on the main board, there is a
small fuse on the circuit board test it with. eventually we have to suspect the mother board. if so should change it.

first of all my advice is: if you keep any electronics devices without usage for a long period, you must detach the battery/power supply.
in this case I think the hard disk may be faulty, if you can open the camera and takeout the HDD connect with an HDD dock connect the dock to your system, in normal condition your computer will detect the hard disk, if so you can save the contents to your computer or you can format it, if it is not detecting your computer it means the HDD is physically damage. please change it.
