You may need to do a quick online search to see fi you can find the drivers and load them on your computer. I have a Flip and when I plugged it into my computer (which is a efw year old XP) it loaded the software on it.

i have the same problem too. whenever i try to charge it through the dock. the red light continuously blinks and it won't charge.

hey guys! flip not turning on after charging? well, i have gotten a solution for you. before doing any of this, please read all directions. first, look at bottom and slide to unlocked key. then, gently slide off front of flip, with thumbs pressing down, to where batteries are stored. after taking out batteries, up top you will see a small and flat gray box with a mini black thing sticking out of it. take something sharp, like a pencil or pen, and press down to the back, closer to lens, that black thing for sixty seconds exactly. one minute to be exact. next, slowly put the batteries back in correctly, and put on the cover of your flip. at the bottom, slide to locked lock. wait three minutes or so. then try turning it on. after you see it works, plug it in to the computer as quickly as you can. the way you do that is by sliding metal piece down on side until a plug shoots out. you plug that in to the correct sized jack on your computer. let it charge as long as half as a day. before unplugging, eject the flip in the right hand corner on the computer screen. look on your computer under either My Videos or My Documents and see if you find the FLIPSHARE DATA file. You can open that file and then see 3 files, videos, flipshare and previews. If you have an external hard drive, back all these up on that. If you don't, then try copying and pasting all three files or the one flipshare Data file somewhere else on your computer away from My Videos and my documents. that way when you uninstall the flipshare software it won't take those files with it, or shouldn't. then when you reinstall all, if the files remained, fine, if not copy and paste from wherever you stored them back to where they originally were stored by Flipshare. Your other choice is to take the videos you have on computer, put them into Windows Live Movie Maker and make a movie of them onto DVD. then you'll have them for sure. There is a reset button up inside the thread for the tripod. Maybe it got jammed and stuck in. You might try bumping it with a stiff wire or a small screw driver.

connect the camer aand close flipshare if it opened, connect the open the camera as a drive (in my computer on windows, or on the desktop in mac os) and copy the DCIM Folder somewhere you can find it, disconnect the camera, open flipshare, click help, Recover other flipshare files, and choose the dcim directory you copied to the computer(if the video files are in a subfolder, choose that instead)

Make sure you use a good USB 2 port and make sure your computer stays turned ON during the charging or it will not charge. The red light should stay on on the front of the camcorder while charging and will go off when charging is complete.
Try a different USB port maybe also. or if using a USB extension make sure it is a powered extension, and if not, connect the camcorder directly into a USB instead of using an extension.
My extension has a light to show that it is a powered extension.

it is pre loaded onto your Flip, just plug it in and windows will automatically install this for you. If not, go to, My Computer, and find your camera listed in either "removable storage device" or "camera" and locate the software there.

try reseting the camera by holding the button for 30 seconds or whatever since there are no videos on there you dont have to worry about the reseting process deleting any videos

The red light on the front of the camcorder is supposed to blink when it is charging. That indicates that it is still charging, the light will stop blinking when it is fully charged. Other than that does it work fine?
