You should be able to activate the webcam with any webcam enabled software. There's no buttons or anything to "turn it on" as it will turn on with software that needs webcam.

For example, try using it with the video chat feature built into Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, or Windows Live Messenger. They should all detect the webcam automatically and start using it.

Have you tried recovering your system? Sounds like you are missing some boot files and need to reinstall them. You can use your Dell support to do this.

ya may be coz of WIN32.sality virus or other software which occupide camera

2 ways:
1. re-install the cam driver 2. use other cam
if 1 of them works, then that is the problem.

try to uninstall and reinstall driver for wireless first...
go to start>(on start search if vista or win7)type dev then you can see there on topmost device manager then click that>network adapter>uninstall driver 802.11 or wifi link(example)then install it again
- then go to start again>type on the start search services.msc>scroll down the service window and you can see there WLAN Autoconfig
- general tab you can see there start up type it should be automatic and service status should be start then go to recovery tab and on the first,second and subsequent it should be restart the service...
- restart the computer and try to connect again

First, press CTRL + ALT+ DELETE and bring up the task manager. If there is no response, you could try a hard reset. Either hold down the power button for a few seconds untill it shuts off, or switch the power button on back of pc off, or unplug the power. Although do this as a last result as you may lose any unsaved data. When you turn it back on it should say " windows did not shut down correctly " and it will give you a few options. Press enter on " Start Windows Normally ". See if that helps.

in all honesty a loose wire in the laptop can cause all the symptems and maybe your affected by static electricity

Uninstall the drivers,and try to install fom the official website,If that does not work,go to safe mode & install the drivers.Check the firewall & permissions.

download the driver and install-in your system then try.

1. Your Webcam is not compatible on Windows 7 because of screen resolution issue.

2. Check the latest update for webcam driver.

Uninstall the device and reinstall. Use another program to access the webcam...try and IM program.....Yahoo Messenger. Connect the webcam to another PC to determine if it is an hardware problem with the camera.

question is not cleared if ur system cant load the xp it may be so many reason sometimes ur hard disk cause damage other wise ur ram will b complaint or else so pls try to give the question correctly

Turn it off. Symptoms suggest hard drive failure. Use of s taking a physical battering. This may damage data beyond recovery. The drive Take it to a shop. Your other choice: Oddly, freezing the hard drive sometimess temporaily fixes the drive long enough to recover data. Replacement of the hard drive is the likely fix. Unless you want to try to freeze the HD and copy data off of it quickly, only a shop specializing in data recovery might recover such. Hopefully youhave backed up data to another drive. You might want to consider a new laptop, after you eye the possible cost of repair and/or data recovery.

Always include the version of Windows in your posts. Could have been a RAM problem if you got 4 beeps and you seem to have resolved that by reseating the modules. But the RAM error may have caused some corruption to a file on the hard drive. Assuming the diagnostics pass, you can reboot and press F8 before Windows starts to load. Select Last Known Good. If that gets you to the desktop without errors, shut down normally and reboot normally, and you should be good to go. You may also want to run chkdsk on the hard drive: Click: Start>run Type in: chkdsk C: Click OK Accept the offer to run chkdsk at next boot and then reboot. chkdsk will run before Windows loads. It may take a long time, depending on size of your hard drive, so be patient.

the only thing to be aware of is the voltage cannot exceed that required for the laptop . for example if the solar panel puts out 12 volts you will need an adaptor before the usb connection to reduce the power to the voltage for the laptop
