My emachines desktop ET1161-07 is randomly playing a high-low beep
A virus check might not get all malware. Download Malwarebytes free and do a scan with that. Check the add-ons installed in you browsers and get rid of superfluous or strange ones. Use msconfig to check which programs are loaded at start up. Uncheck unnecessary or suspicious ones. Good luck.

Manual for et1161-07
That's easy. Open the side panel of the CPU. Locate the battery on the motherboard. Pull it out. Place a fresh one.

EMachines running XP. Computer kept shutting down
Most likely a hard drive problem. When you get the flashing cursor, it indicates a lack of an accessible Operating System. But, if the drive was good you would get a boot failure indication. I would try booting with an XP disc and look for the HDD (or try F2 when you boot) to get to the BIOS and look for the drives there.

A) Power On switch is no goodB) Power Supply is no goodDo you wish to perform the simple test, to see if the problem is the Power On switch, or Power Supply? If so post back in a Comment. Also, IS it an eMachines ET1161-07 Desktop PC?Don't want to 'rattle my lips off', if it's a different computer.

Reset password emachine
You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :-
