Whirlpool Duet Sport HT WFW8400TE Washer - Page 6 Questions & Answers
I have owned a Whirlpool
The culprit is likely the motor control unit (MCU, bottom right-hand side towards the back) and/or the drive motor, no the central control unit (CCU, top right-hand side towards the front). It has been known that faults in the MCU interferes with the proper operation of the CCU. Unplug the machine for at least 15 minutes and disconnect from the MCU the wire harness connecting it to the CCU. Reconnect power then redo the diagnostic test or start a cycle. The MCU is indeed at fault if the diagnostic test pushes through and all washer functions work except the motor functions or if the machine seems to work when a cycle is started unlike when the MCU is connected to the CCU in which the machine locks the door and does nothing as soon as the Start button is pressed. Replacing the MCU is the only viable if that is the case.
Check also the drive motor windings by measuring the resistances between any two motor winding terminals. Disconnect the 5-wire connector from the drive motor then touch the ohmmeter, set to the R X 1 scale, test leads to the following motor pins:
Pins 1 and 2
Pins 2 and 3
Pins 1 and 3
The meter should indicate approximately 6 ohms for each measurement. Replace the drive motor if there's any significant discrepancy in the resistance readings (zero or infinity). Let

We have a Whirlpool Duet HT washer. Due to the
"F20" is a No Water Detect error. It is an indication that you either have no water coming into the washer, or very little water at all. If the pressure switch has not tripped after 6 minutes, the error code is displayed. This can be a potential problem with the following:
If you have NO water in the wash tub, check the following:
- Inlet water valve may be clogged. Clean inlet screens if necessary.
- Make sure water taps are on.
- Check inlet hoses for kinks or clogs.
If you do not have the hot water line fixed, then that is where your problem is. The washer looks for water supply on both lines. It will still work, but you will get this error.

If water comes into washer with no power to it and water valves are turned on then you have a bad water inlet valve in washer. Try unplugging washer and turn on water valves see if water comes in note may be small amount (but it does add up if it runs all night) if it does your water valve is bad..Replace.Sometimes the vales can stick open a little it is caused by buildup inside valves from minerals and other items in water....Note make sure if you replace valve that you have sediment screens in your water inlet lines on washer that will prevent items in water getting stuck in valves and keeping them open..If you need more help please ask if I helped you please vote Thanks and good luck
The code f-28 appears on
To unlock the door remove lower kick panal reach up to door latch there is a small tab at the bottom of door latch that will release door pull down on it . The f 28 is a comun between the motor control board and ccu. What you need is a can of electronics cleaner.unplug washer remove top of washer should be white box top right side remove each wire clean wire contact and board contacts do one at a time so u don't get messed up..Go to lower section of washer white board in rear left/that is the motor control board clean the contacts on board and wires /put unit back together....tip if that does not work///// best to get in a pro with a meter to do further test......good luck
Duet sport washer flashes sud
If too much detergent was used, run the unit through a Rinse/ Spin cycle then a Normal cycle without adding any detergent. This should clear the unit of the excess detergent.
Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked
Check the drain pump filter for debris
Check the drain pump
If all the above checks out good . This would indicate that the pressure switch or also called the analog pressure sensor has failed. First you will need to remove the top lid. Usually 2 or 3 screws on the back and the top comes right off. The pressure switch has a clear hose and a clump of wires going to it. Then unplug the hose and blow thru it it should be clear. Check the hose for leaks or obstructions. Also in the back of the washer on the left hand side is a air dome this is where it gets it pressure reading from, make sure it is not obstructed. If all is clear the pressure switch will need to be replaced. Here is a link to help with accessing the pressure switch also if you need diagrams or illustrations of your particular model.
What does the code mean? F 11
Hi,
The F11 code means motor or motor control board problems. But, most often the problem is that the CCU circuit board (plastic case, inside, top, back of the machine) is having communications problems with the motor control board. This problem is caused by bad solder joints (cold solder joints) at the spade connectors and relay connections on the CCU circuit board. These points on the CCU board need to be resoldered. Remove the circuit board and case as a whole then remove the board for repair. If you can handle the repair yourself that's great! If not just remove the board and case and take it (and this response) to a good appliance repair shop and they should be able to help you out. Good luck.
Hi, my name is Uwe
"F21" is a Long Drain error. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes this error code will be displayed. In addition, a "SUDS" error may also be displayed. This may be an indication of a drain pump problem and/or clog in the drain line. You will need to check the following:
1.First, attempt to unplug the washer for at LEAST 30 minutes to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). Sometimes this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches with the unit. If the error code returns, proceed to step 2.
2.Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
3.Check the electrical connections to the pump and ensure the pump is running.
4.Remove the drain pump filter and check for foreign objects and/or debris.
If the above procedures do not correct the problem, it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the drain pump.

My washer displays the f21 error code. it did
Hi
Error code SD means LONG DRAIN. This error appears when the drain time exceeds 8 minutes and the water valves turn off. After 4 minutes the "Sd" error will be displayed, and then 4 minutes later the F21 error code will be displayed. Press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to clear the display. Please Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked. If the drain hose if fine then unplug the washer and check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running. Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects. To access the drain pump and filter remove the front kick panel and trace the drain hose to the bottom of the washer, drain pump would be located there. If you are not able to access it, then replace the back panel as well. Plug in washer or reconnect power. If the issue is still not resolved then you would need to replace the drain pump.
Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

The washer reaks with oder,
using to much detergent will make the washer stinky, also it will eat at the spider gear in the back of the tub and when that happens it's new washer time,it costs 450 to 500 dollars just for the part, you should be using 1/4 cup of detergent and it should be H.E. detergent, when the wash is done you should wipe down the boot seal, spred it open and clean out the bottom part and wipe it down till it's dry.also you could have debris stuck in the filter in the pump.remove the bottom panel, unscrew the middle part of the pump and whatever is in the filter clean it out,it gets loaded with coins, lint and everything else that gets left in the clothing and then it gets a detergent buildup and my god does it stink, you would think the detergent wouldn't smell but it does,so wipe down the boot, use less detergent and every 4 to 6 months clean out the pump and you should be fine, let me know how you make out,run the washer with nothing in it,if you see suds in there this is your problem, after you clean out the pump and run it with nothing in it use the tablets again and go from there, good luck
F-22 is my error code. What is that?
F22
DOOR LOCK ERROR
After 6 failed attempts to lock the door.
Possible Causes/Procedure
Door lock mechanism is broken or removed from door.
Door switch/lock unit failure.
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check door switch/lock unit.
3. Check the wire harness connections to the door switch/lock unit and Central Control Unit (CCU)
What does f24 mean
This advice is for Whirlpool Duet and Kenmore Elite model FRONT LOADERS displaying the "F24" Error Code. Some of the error codes on these model washers can be erroneous, however. The first step in troubleshooting any error code is to simply unplug the washer for AT LEAST 30 minutes in an attempt to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). This is the main "brain" of the washing machine. If the error code reappears following a CCU reset, then you have a genuine problem.
"F24" is an indication of a water temperature sensor (NTC) error, or Heating Circuit failure. Check the Water Temperature Sensor and check connections to the Water Temperature Sensor.
To access, you will have to UNPLUG your washer and remove the lower access panel under the door. The panel comes off by removing the screws under the bottom edge. HINT: If you place a 2 x 4 under the front feet of the washer, it will make access to the screws much easier. If the panel sticks, a tap on the sides will knock it free. The panel will drop down then come off. The sensor (NTC) is located at the base of the wash tub in the front on the heating element. This will be a small square shaped plug between the heating element terminals. Make sure this plug is secure and not loose or unplugged. It is common for the connector plug to come loose due to vibration. If the plug is intact, check the contacts for corrosion. If everything appears as it should, then unplug the wire harness and take a resistance check. Readings will be as follows:
Temperature Meter Reading
32°F (0°C) 35.9 K ohms
86°F (30°C) 9.7 K ohms
104°F (40°C) 6.6 K ohms
122°F (50°C) 4.6 K ohms
140°F (60°C) 3.2 K ohms
158°F (70°C) 2.3 K ohms
203°F (95°C) 1 K ohms
Roughly...around 9K ohms at room temperature if I'm reading the chart correctly. Take readings as listed and also double check the connector to make sure it is not oxidized. Try cleaning the plug and reconnecting to see if the error code goes away. If not, you will probably have to replace the sensor. If the sensor checks good, take a reading across the heating element terminals. It should indicate about 15 ohms.
Lastly, remove the washer top panel by removing the three screws holding the panel in place in the rear. Once the screws are removed, slide the panel back then off. Locate the Central Control Unit (CCU) directly behind the wash tub. Take a resistance check at the Heating Element Solenoid by removing connector 9 from the CCU (this is the second connector from the RIGHT as facing from the front). A reading across test points 1 & 2 should also read 15 ohms.
