Hi my pc fail to start. it shows 5 red beeps

Hi Blessedgivenus. This seems to be a problem related to your memory DIMM modules. You may need to remove your DIMM modules, clean their contacts lightly with a pen eraser to remove any sign of oxidation, then clean them with paper tissue to remove any eraser debris and resat them back to your computer. If the problem persists, try installing the DIMM modules one by one, in order to try to identify which one is defective and replace it with a brand new one. Please, check the figure below for more info regarding this problem: 25799305-fquli33imuwglv45q20hnaoi-1-0.png This and other troubleshooting information regarding your machine can be found in this manual, that can be downloaded from the following link: http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c01363877 Hope you may find this information helpful! Yes, things will go faster if you un-check it, but searches will go slower.

Sony vaio beeps on startup then beeps once every three seconds

Could be a problem with the RAM. You can do a boot-up RAM test with a CD-ROM or USB stick using Memtest Memtest86 Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Computer shut down and red

According to the troubleshooting guide for this model, the red light flashing five times indicates a problem in the RAM (memory), before the video subsystem is ready. You may just need to open the case and make sure the memory sticks are fully locked in their slots. If you just added new memory, it might not match the required specs.

Blank screen and the power LED flashes Red five times, once every second, followed by a two second pause, and the computer beeps five times. (Beeps stop after fifth iteration but LEDs continue flashing.)

Cause Pre-video memory error.

Solution
1.
Reseat DIMMs. Power on the system.

2. Replace DIMMs one at a time to isolate the faulty module.

3. Replace third-party memory with HP memory.
4. Replace the system board.

I have a used HP/Compaq dc5800. I reinstalled win xp pro to clean out HD. When finished I noticed the computer did not recognized the ethernet card, sound card and graphics which are all integrated. i

You would need to look at the BIOS manufacturers site for the beep code and it's meaning. You can also pull all the hardware out, memory HDD, CD/DVD and boot if you no longer get the error, power down and add one component back and boot. Repeat until you get the beep code again and you will know what the problem part is.
