Does not start and shows 11H code

"F11" is a Serial Communications error between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and Motor Control Unit (MCU). The CCU is the main computer for the washer and is located directly behind the wash tub. The MCU is the Drive Motor Control board and is located in the rear of the washer adjacent to the Drive Motor on the left-hand side (facing from the rear with the back panel removed). The wiring harness can also cause the error, but it is not as common a problem.

Whirlpool is the manufacturer of both model washers and recommends the following troubleshooting advice. Remove the top panel of the washer by removing the three screws holding it in place in the rear. Once the screws are removed, the panel slides back, then off. Remove the rear panel of the washer for access to the drive motor and MCU. Now check the following:

- Check the wire harness connections between the CCU, the MCU and Drive Motor. Make sure all connections are attached and making good contact. Check for any broken wires or connector pins.
- Check the Drive Motor to see if it free spins and that the belt is still attached and not slipping. If the motor is seized, replace it. If the belt is broken or worn, replace it as well.
- Check the MCU. Connector 1 is the Serial Communications Link between the MCU and CCU. Connector 2 is the connector to the drive motor. Resistance checks across pins 1, 2, & 3 are the motor windings. Connector 3 is the power supply - 120VAC should be read across pins 1 and 2 with the door in the locked position. NOTE: The connectors are read 1, 2, and 3 from the bottom to the top with the MCU installed.
- Check the CCU. Verify connectors 7 and 11 are properly installed. Facing from the front of the washer, connector 7 is the 4th connector from the RIGHT along the front. This is MCU Power. Connector 11 is the Serial Communications link from the CCU to the MCU and is located along the left hand side of the CCU (the connectors are numbered 11 through 14 back to front).
- Check the Drive Motor. Remove the connector and perform resistance checks on the motor connector pins. Readings across pins 1 to 2, 2 to 3 and 1 to 3 should read 6 ohms.

In most cases this is an indication of a failed CCU. This is an easy repair that the average do-it-yourselfer can accomplish on their own. If the washer is still under a warranty, parts and labor would be covered. With no warranty, a replacement parts will vary in price depending on where you get them. There are several good websites available that you can order parts on line and have shipped directly to you.

NOTE: Remove all the connectors from the CCU ONE AT A TIME and reconnect to see if the error code goes away BEFORE you decide to purchase a new one. It is not common, but sometimes a flaky connection can generate error codes.

Stops on the spin cycle...flashes..06...F..and

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error F06 in your whirlpool duet indicates that the control is unable to properly detect the motor speed and so the washer shuts down. This usually occurs during high speed spin and the door will be unlocked after 3 minutes. To resolve this issue you’ll have to check the wire harness connections between the Driver motor and the Motor control unit (MCU). If that is fine then check the connection between the MCU & central control unit (CCU), replace the part that has gone bad. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Washer makes knocking noise while in spin cycle.

Check your front and rear counter-weights. They are made of concrete and start to chip away. More so the rear than the front. When you open it up look on the base and see if you have chips or chunks of concrete. I had that problem as well - also make sure you spray lube inside, check your "Spider" wheel, and belt.

My front washe ris giving me an F21 error code.

"F21" is a Long Drain error. This is usually an indication that you may have an obstruction somewhere in the drainage system. Most commonly, this is an indication something is lodged in the drain pump or the inlet line running from the wash tub to the pump. There is a white screw off cap on the drain pump that you can remove to inspect the pump impeller and clean. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608588-f21_error_code

Included is a follow-on link that explains how to check the drain pump to clean. On some model washers there is no screw off cap on the pump and you will have to remove the inlet hose that runs from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the drain pump. Removing the inlet hose for inpsection is recommended on all these washers just to ensure there isn't anything lodged in the line. Debris and small articles of clothing such as socks or under garments can become lodged in this area as well causing the drain cycle to fail.

NOTE: A "SUD" error code can also often occur in conjunction with the "F21" error code. This is due to air being detected in the drainage system, which can occur if the pump is not running, or if you have an obstruction BEFORE the pump. You need to remove the inlet hose from the pump to ensure it is also not blocked. Correct your drainage system fault, and the SUD error (if displayed) should go away.

NOTE: If these preliminary measures do not correct your problem, you may have to replace the drain pump. It does not take much to damage the pump impeller or motor. Since the error code is generated if the drain cycle exceeds 8 minutes, if the pump is damaged and can't pump at the required volume, the error code will continue to appear until the pump is replaced. If the pump requires replacement, the following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574350-replacing_the_drain_pump_in_a_front_load

These are very simple repairs that you can perform yourself without the assistance of a repairman.

If the washer door remains locked and you still cannot open it, there is a manual release you can use to retrieve items left in the wash tub. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576511-door_jam_on_kenmore_elite_and_whirlpool_

If the wash tub is full of water, you may want to use a wet/dry shop vac to pull a vacuum on the drain line and drain the wash tub. This will minimize any potential mess you may have to clean up.

FYI: For future reference, the error codes are not listed in the owner's manual. For an explanation of all the error codes, each one of these washers comes with a technical data sheet inside.

To access, you will need to remove the lower toe panel under the door. The access screws are located under the bottom front edge of the panel. You may have to prop the two front feet of the washer up for better access ( a 2x4 works well for this). With the screws removed, the panel should drop down, then come off. If the tech sheet isn't directly behind the panel, it will be affixed to one of the interior cabinet walls.

The tech sheet lists all error code definitions, troubleshooting data, diagnostics procedures and wiring diagrams. I mention the tech sheet because you may need it to troubleshoot this error code.

Read through the information provided and if you have questions, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Control lock is on and I cannot get it off. Have

The Control Lock is actually a safety feature that allows the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent children from manipulating the controls and accidentally starting the appliance. This feature can often be set unintentionally and usually is not an indication of an actual problem with the appliance.

With the lock on, the control panel is disabled and you cannot use any of the controls, except the button to unlock it. It can inadvertently be set following a power outage, leaning against the control panel, or pressing and holding the wrong button. This is usually not an indication of a malfunction.

If this is a Whirlpool manufactured appliance (such as Kenmore Elite, Maytag Epic or Whirlpool Duet), the following link explains how to lock/unlock this feature:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608801-control_panel_lock

These instructions are also printed on the front panel of the appliance and in the owner's manual.

If this does not correct your problem, then you may have a more serious problem other than a simple operator control button issue (such as an operator console problem or main control board issue). Please post back and let me know if you need further assistance.

You can use Affresh to clean your front loader. Deposits of soap and other such things can be stuck around the inside tub of your washer. Try this product, it works great on all front loaders. Use very hot water with the Affresh pellet with no clothes and run the machine through a cycle. Also helps with any stagnant water smells. Put the Affresh pellet inside the machine, not in the soap dispenser.

You can give me a ‘very helpful’ rating for the free help, can't you. Thanks.

Kenmore elite He3 leaking water into tub

Outstanding diagnosis. You are correct to assume a water inlet problem and, "yes", this can be a common problem. If you live in area that has hard water, or if you use well water, sediment, rust and calcified deposits can clog the small diaphragms inside the valve causing them not to close properly and leak by. You can attempt to clean the valve by removing it and submerging it in a 50/50 solution of distilled vinegar and hot water for about 30 minutes, Sometimes this can dissolve any clogs and restore the valve to full operate. However, if this does not work, you will need to replace the valve.

The following link explains the steps required to replace the valve if you need directions:

I have included web resources to search for replacement parts.

check out the connecting cables of the control panel board.if the cables are loose or not proper then its fault in the cable.but if cables are proper and looks good then its fault in the control board itself. actually it worked for some time then stopped because the small ,tiny electrical components on the board are bit loose so they get weak and overheated when the current passes.when you removed the board and reinstalled at that time the unit got reseted.this is the basic procedure to reset the control panel.that is to remove the control panel from the unit and reconnect.but if reset does not help.try this same again, check out the connecting wires.if any thing does not helps the control board needs replacement. you will get required parts from www.repairclinic.com or from www.partselect.com This will help. I am looking for a user manual for a Kenmore HE3t

Go to managemylife.com. This is a site that (I believe) is sponsored by Sears. Type in your model number under the "Manuals: link and you should find your owner's manual listed in a .pdf (Adobe) format. You can download or print a copy for FREE.

I love my kenmore HE 3t front end loader washer.

"Fdl" is a door latch error code. This could be an indication of a door latch failure, or a defective relay on the Central Control Unit (CCU) that controls the door latch.

If you cannot get the door to open, there is a manual release you can use to open the door. The following link explains how to access:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576511-door_jam_on_kenmore_elite_and_whirlpool_

Make sure you UNPLUG the washer before servicig inside the unit. In some cases, using the manual release can return the washer to normal operation. However, if you still have problems there is a tech sheet inside the appliance that explains all the error codes and how to troubleshoot them. The test points required to diagnose the problem are also included. The tech sheet should be located directly behind the lower toe panel, or affixed to one of the interior cabinet walls. I would begin by checking all the interconnecting wire connectors between the CCU and door latch to ensure the connectors are all seated properly. Unplugging them and reseating each one can help.

If you determine the door latch to be the cause of the problem, the following link explains how to access and replace:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575840-replacing_a_door_latch

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased on line at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancpartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between these sites, so shop and compare.

If you have any questions about this repair, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.
