Sounds like you may have a lid switch problem. Without a model number, I really can give you a part number (Kenmore Stacks are made by two companies, Frigidaire and Whirlpool) or a way to get to it. It is right under the lid. Check the top and be sure that the plunger that goes into the hole isnt broke or missing. If you need further help, send me the model number (will start with 417 if its a Frigidaire or 110 if its a Whirlpool) and will try to get you a little more information. The job on either unit isnt that hard, and parts are pretty inexpensive. Let me know. Jim

These dryers will make a noise from the front caused by the front guide wearing out. It can be replaced by removing the front panel and door on the dryer.

There is a ball and socket bearing on the rear that could squeak but is not normally a problem. It can be replaced or lubed.
Part 20 and 23 is your felt guides and 12,13 and 5 are your back bearing parts.

check belt drum drive? check drum turns at all, it may be stuck.most drums turn with a belt. if it broke it is laying on the bottom of the dryer.didnt u see it??look again.

it sounds like your motor is stuck it might be clogged with lint that gets though into the cabinet and surounds the motor and motor contact try giving it a service vac out around the motor

There are no filters in the washing machine. Keeping the drum clean is all that is required. The rest of the dirt and grim typically go down the drain at the end of the wash cycle and after the rinse cycle.
