That is quite unusual behaviour from your Wii. In the forst instance it would be a good idea to RE-SYNCHRONIZE your remotes and balance board with your Wii

    Standard Mode Synchronization

Note: Make sure you have placed batteries in the Wii Remote and that they are full/charged.

Go to the Wii Menu. (Channel Grid)

  1. Press the Power button on the Wii console to turn it on.

  2. Open the SD Card Slot cover on the front of the Wii console. Remove the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote you wish to sync up.

  3. Press and release the SYNC button just below the batteries on the Wii Remote; the Player LED will blink. Quickly press and release the SYNC button on the inside of the SD Card compartment on the console.

  4. When the Player LED blinking stops, the syncing is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number (1 through 4).

  5. This procedure must be followed for each additional Wii Remote added to your system.

Option 2: There might be a glitch in the software which can often be fixed by re-downloading a fresh copy. Download the latest update by going to Settings->Console settings->Internet->Select your connection type->test connection. After the connection it will ask if you would like to perform a system update.
Option 3 If you are still having problems, try to identify if it is only happening when using a combination of some of the devices. Do you have the problem when the balance board is off?
There is also the possibility that there is a electrical fault with your wii. If the above does not help contact Nintendo support at http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/
Good luck

If you haven't turned it on since the accident...it might be possible. Firstly, you will need to try and get all of the water out of it as possible. I've heard that rice helps get water out of cell phones that have been submerged...but for a device that large, it would require a large box and a large bag of rice (a few pounds).

The problem is that if you try to turn it on while it's still wet inside it could cause a short circuit. Avoid turning it on until all the components are dry.

If you want to try the rice trick, find a large box to put the board in, then get a large bag of rice and dump it over the board. Leave it set for a few days. The rice soaks up the moisture. You need enough rice to completely cover the board so it can't be seen at all. I know it sounds silly....but it works with smaller devices.

Put in a Wii Fit compatible game. Start the game up.
Once you bypass the wrist strap safety message open up the SD card slot on the front of the Wii and remove the battery cover on the Wii Fit Balance Board.
Press and release the sync button. The blue light will start blinking. Then press and release the red sync button on the Wii console.

If this does not fix the problem make sure the battery level for the balance board is not low.
Change the batteries anyway just incase.

If that still does not fix the problem, make sure the game you are using is Wii Fit compatible.

Hello,
The Basic Step workout should be unlocked from the very beginning. You unlocked Advanced Step by completing Basic Step several times.

If you Basic Step option is unavailable from the start, I would recommend creating a new Wii/Mii Profile and testing it with a new game save to see if what you were experiencing is a software bug.

Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi, thanks for using Fixya!
  • Open the SD card slot on the nintendo wii, open the battery panel on the wii balance board.

  • Press the two red sync buttons on the wii console and the balance board and hold for 3 seconds.

  • The blue light on the back of the wii balance board should flash for 5-10 seconds and then stay blue.

  • If this doesn't work then try changing the batteries and trying again.

If it still isn't connecting then the problem is something a proper nintendo expert will have to help fix.

Thanks, I hope I have been of assistance.

Hi.

This is a common issue for the Wii Balance Board. Here is how you do it:

  1. Take the batteries out.
  2. Take out the screws from each foot in every corner of the board using a Philips screwdriver. Remove the back cover.
  3. The sensors are located on each corner, it is a metal plate. Loosen the screws using TORX screwdriver.
  4. Re seat the small metal plates by putting it back. Don't screw too tight.
  5. Put the cover back and foot on. Put the batteries back in.

Hope this helps!
