how do you add a text message signature to tht HTC Hero
i don't think there is a way using the messaging app that comes with the phone, but there is a 3rd party app that will allow you to set a signature: handcent sms
one other nice thing, it's free! find it through the android market.

My htc hero pairs but then says paired but not connected. It cannot then be found so i cant send or receive any thing through bluetooth also the phone dosen't connect wirelessly 2 my livebox (orange internet) could this be linked some how ????? any solutions to these problems would be appreciated thanks
The Hero has a rather crippled Bluetooth which is one of the reasons I'm sending mine back.
For security, when you set the phone to be discoverable it only stays that way for 90 seconds. This cannot be altered unless someone works out how to bypass it with an app but I understand from HTC that this feature is built in at the firmware level.
Look down at the devices list in the Bluetooth menu and you'll see what's paired with the phone; press menu and you'll have the option to connect.
Bluetooth on this phone cannot be used for file transfers of any kind. It's only there to enable connection of devices like headsets and external keyboards and that's about it. You can't even take a photo and Bluetooth it to another phone. There is no way around this at present.
Not connected with your question, but have you discovered the annoyingly expensive and non-alterable trick which it does when you want to send/forward long SMS messages yet?

when someone sends my htc hero picture mail, it has a download gray bar with the text. when I click it, it says downloading but the picture never down loads. then I get a message that says download unsuccessful.
The problem is that you are probably connected to wifi when you are trying to do this. Try disconnecting from Wifi and just using Sprint internet, and it should work. Just a glitch that I would hope they'd fix at some point soon.

playing music on htc hero from itunes library of macbook
One issue should go first ahead of your question --- is the music you want to transfer from iTunes DRM-protected?
1. If they are non-DRM .mp3 or .m4a, you can either use one-stand free iTunes transfer like DoubleTwist or iTunes Agent which dose good job of transferring iTunes music to HTC Hero; or you can manually frag and drop by following those steps:
Step 1. Plug in your phone via-usb to Windows Computer
Step 2. From the "HTC HERO Phone" pull down drop-menu from the top and select with your finger the menu that says "USB Connected Select to copy files to/from your computer.
Step 3. Select Mount ("on the phone")
Step 4. The Default Windows Removable Disk shows up (on the computer), select open folder to view files. Here you will see the phones & applications file structure.
Step 5. Select the file that says DCIM then 100MEDIA this is location for your music, pictures, and videos.
Step 6. Open up My Computer or Windows Explorer in a seprate window on the computer and copy and paste your files into the 100MEDIA location.
Step 7. Final step, from the phone pull down the drop down menu from the top and select Turn off USB Storage - Turn off - you will see SD Sync.
2. If they are DRM-protectd .m4p music .m4v video files or other protected .wma wmv files, a 3rd party DRM Removal Software is a must-have tool to strip DRM license and convert format to HTC supported .mp3 audio and .3gp video.
Transferring is as easy as what was stated above.

htc hero alarm not working.... no sound when alarm goes off
I had this problem with my Orange Hero too - there is a fix but it's quite obscure.
When you're inside the "choose an alarm sound" menu and scrolling through the list,
if you press the volume buttons on the side of the phone then you can manually adjust
the alarm sound (mine was set to 0). Not sure what causes it to set to zero,
presumably when you take the phone off silent mode it sometimes fails to update the
alarm as well? This still needs looking at because it means the alarm volume resets
to zero of its own accord, but it can at least be managed by manual readjustment.
Hope this helps!
P.S. It might also be worth noting that when I was having this problem, no
third-party alarm apps would play the stock alarm sounds either.

my htc hero wont download picture messages it says unsuccesful download. have like 15 that wont download
Many networks require you to try to send 2 pciture meessages to yourself before you can recieve them. Secondly, make sure you are not roaming, have a good signal, and a data icon is dispalyed in the notification bar. This will look like a G, or E, or 3G with two arrows (one up, one down). If your roaming, or never see a data icon, you may not be able to download the messages until you go to an area with better reception.
