Re: Tronic T4X Battery Charger that is stuck in standby (red LED). Mine does the exact same thing. It was bought at Lidl in Norway when that company was present for a couple of years. I have taken the battery charger apart, but can not find any obvious faults, like blown components, bad soldering, etc. I also wonder why it fails like that. Just now I measured the tactile switch (mode button) with a multimeter, and it seems that it is faulty. 2 pairs is always connected, lets say pins 1 and 3 is always connected and pins 2 and 4 is always connected. No matter if the button is pressed. However pressing the button does not make a connection between the mentioned pairs of pins. There is always a 2,76 MOhm resistance between the pairs, even when the button is pressed. This makes me think that the button is faulty. This is how a tactile switch works: https://www.digikey.com/en/articles/the-basics-of-tactile-switchesEdit: I just soldered a couple of wires from either side of the switch. Then I could power up the charger and make contact between the pins while it was on and showing the red indicator light. I measured 5VDC between the wires and 0VDC when I shorted the wires. The LED did not change at all. The output of the charging leads was 30 mVDC while contact was open, and 10mVDC when the button was "pressed" (wires shorted). Maybe I have to have a battery connected for the charger to start charging/change mode? That will be the next thing to try.
