The DV6000 is a moniker for an entire series of laprop computers, each with a unique model number that has some variation the DV6XXX. Some will have Intel Core Duo, some Intel Celeron, some AMD Turion 64, and some AMD Mobile Sempron processors. Features, speed, and cost will vary appropriately with the Obviously the AMD and Intel boards are different and you cannot swap processors between boards. Here is a link to the HP Maintenance Manual for the DV6000 series laptops. It lists all the Mainboards used with the series and what processors go on them. It is useful for ordering replacement parts and gives instruction on disassembly and repair.http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035677.pdf

Outer cylindrical metal shell is the Negative connection ]B) Next check the DC Power Jack. (The jack on the laptop where the AC adapter plugs into)With the Battery removed, see if you can wiggle the center pin of the jack. Any perceptible movement means a problem with the DC Power Jack. Fortunately the DC Power Jack for this series of Notebook PC's, has a DC Power Jack Harness. The jack is mounted to a small removable circuit board, that has a wiring harness attached to it, and the harness plugs into the motherboard. See how the FDS6679 and AO4407 use the D2PAK surface mount?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:D2PAK.JPGThey use J-leads for connection. The J shaped flat leads that come out of the body of the P.MOSFET. In the above example there are two.The left view shows a Top view, the right view shows a Bottom view.Talk about easy to unsolder, and solder.Just make sure when installing the new one/s you use a Clip Heatsink on each J-lead, as you solder each J-lead to the motherboard.http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103242Use Desoldering Braid, (Solder Wick), to remove solder. Desoldering Tool, (Solder S-ucker tool), is for the birds. To conclude:1) Bad AC adapter - You replace2) Bad DC Power Jack Harness - You replace? FOUR DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS, plus shipping, and tax.Shop?$100 to $1253) Bad Power MOSFET -You replace? Cost of .032 Rosin core solder, rosin flux, small flux brush, 25 Watt soldering iron with No.2 chisel tip, Desoldering Braid, and P.MOSFET/s.It's One Dollar and 1 cent, for a FDS6679 from Mouser, plus shipping, and tax. It's about $70 to $150 for a motherboard, depending on where you buy it.And that isn't including the $125, or so for labor.(Very few real techs left. Instead of diagnosing, and replacing those cheap P.MOSFET's, they would rather sell you a motherboard.Easier for ***** in a repair shop with little to no skills, and also more coins, $$$$$$$)That's my summer vacation, and now back to you David............For additional questions please post in a Comment.Regards, joecoolvette

I have a hp dv6000 , it boots up with a black screen what could it be?.

It is possible you inadvertently disabled your notebook screen. There is a feature that lets you alternate between the internal screen and an external monitor/projector. This is used in presentations and docking situations. To check - try this, in the lower LH corner of the keyboard, find the "fn" key. It is sometimes blue in color. Now locate the F4 key. You should seen a symbol on it that looks like a large oval with vertical lines on each side. Press and hold the "fn" key. While holding it down, press and release the F4 key. If you had accidentally disable the scrren, this should restore it. If that is not the case. wait for the system to fully boot up. Take the unit out of direct lighting, but not into a dark room. Look at the screen from a slight angle. If you can just make out images on the screen that resemble what your normal display looks like, then what has happened is the the fluorescent backlight that make the LCD visible has failed. This requires a rather extensive effort to repair.

I just outlined my computer

Hello
First you need to fix the heat issue. You need to open the case and see if all fans are working.
Pay close attention to the small processor fan.
These fans also need to be somewhat clean.A can of compressed air will clean all components inside your pc.
Next i would download and install microsoft security essentials from microsoft. It is a free very good anti virus.
Do a full scan of the hard drive. The virus you have may be causing alot of your software issuse.

I have two intel based

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive boot up

test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty ?

even something as small as an electrical extension or a faulty fan lead can cause this problem computer needs all of the data and power to travel through every working device and to have an end for a computer to be able work properly:

a motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive check all electrical extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd drives need to have current go through make sure these devices are working

could be a dirty graphics card you might have remove the graphics card and clean the socket

also check your computer ram and cmos battery to make sure they are securely seated and the battery has plenty of charge:hope this helps you

MY HP PAVILLION'S PORTS DON'T

Hi,

Most of the laptops those are the common issues Wireless are not working, what i suggest is try to renistall the Driver for the wireless card then check it in the Device Manager, if it doesn't show in Device Manager the wireless card could be faulty.

How to check Device manager.

Start->Control Panel->Device Manager

Inside Device Manager look for Network Adapter and check if your wireless card is detected.

My dv6000 will power up

This model of laptop has an overheating problem. This problem affect the Nvidia GPU and cause that issue. You have two options, one cheap and one expensive.

The cheap one is that you must overheat the Nvidia GPU, in order to resolde it again. This procedure you can make it with a Heat Gun. I mean you need to extract the motherboard and apply the heat directly to the GPU 90 seconds max. Put all the pieces together again (dont forget to apply thermal paste to CPU and GPU) and when the laptop turn on again, go to the HP website and download the las Bios update to your model.
This solution give you as long time as you work with your laptop fresh. You can download the CORETEMP application, to keep watching the CPU temperture.
Cost: $ 20 Heat Gun (harbor freight), $ 7 new thermal paste (for the CPU and GPU)

The expensive one is send your computer to a authorize service center and ask for a reballing repair to your GPU. Cost may be $ 200.

If you need more details, let me know. GOOD LUCK
