doing what what are you doing with the computer is the computer dead?

all do that , its like saying I drive too fast on the race track and car slams into the guard rail. (why?) really? this is how Physics works, limits. real. Some CPU can be overclocked some others not or just a tad. or fails hot. as silicon gets hot it slows down. and fails that is why intel sets clock limits to work under all conditions even a hot room 95F and slower fans full of lint , we called it Guard-banding.(and engineering concept) then you come by and hit the guard rail and wonder whY? only kids do this, tell me do you do banking transactions overclocked. why? ( I hope not) it is a gamers stunt and some do wreck the CPU doing it even $300 loss. is that FUN>?? IMO !!!!!!

slow USB (thrumb drive, reads or writes slow or both)????? the bios all USB ports enabled firest the USB drivers from BIOSTAR loaded forget that ??? I bet yes; front USB2 ports and rear USB ports fail?????? or just one. the intel ICH7 chip runs up to 10x, USB2 ports so is not a problem. why not get working driver from BIOS STAR XP is a virus magnet never seen one not infected now or for 10 years, XP driver seen on the web are all infected the ones at BIOStar are good. It could have been disabled at BIOS. If not, delete all the USB root hub from device manager and reboot PC. Let the OS redetect and reinstall the USB drivers automatically

sure go into cmos then set it back to factory setting there is a place to do that at the end at the top of your monitor esc key right arrow to last one on the right side down arrow set default then yes exit out

check your video card out and make sure it plug in ok

Disconnect floppy, cd rom, and other peripherals from computer. Just leave the hard drive , memory and monitor plugged in. Attempt to boot. If the unit does so then one of the peripherals that you disconnected is responsible. If the machine still just shuts down, replace power supply with known good one. If that does not do it then, unfortunately, you have a motherboard issue.

Rich,as you describe.it's a electrical problem.if possibble try with a other PSU.

CPU Overheated
If the system shutdown automatically after power on system for seconds, that means the CPU protection function has been activated. When the CPU is over heated, the motherboard will shutdown automatically to avoid a damage of the CPU, and the system may not power on again.

In this case, please double check:
1. The CPU cooler surface is placed evenly with the CPU surface.
2. CPU fan is rotated normally.
3. CPU fan speed is fulfilling with the CPU speed.

After confirmed, please follow steps below to relief the CPU protection function.
1. Remove the power cord from power supply for seconds.
2. Wait for seconds.
3. Plug in the power cord and boot up the system.

Or you can:
1. Clear the CMOS data.
2. Wait for seconds.
3. Power on the system again.

YES U CAN USE BOTH SIMULTANIOUSLY PROVIDED THAT UR NEW EXPANSION GRAPHICSCARD SUPPORTS THAT

Three things to try.1. Try changing the RAM. Try it with just one stick. then try it with just the other stick.2. In the BIOS settings try loading default settings. Try the least agressive settings.3. If you have PCI cards try it without them.
