Sony Bravia KDL-26L5000 26 in. LCD HDTV Questions & Answers
Sony bravia works on ups/battery not mains :(
Sure sounds like the power supply board received an insult that allowed a different voltage to work for a while . UPS will regulate top 120 volt whereas mains may be higher or lower . You may be able to change bad capacitors or just buy the power board between 80 to 200 dollars .
If it was connected to UPS during surge it should have been protected...make sure you are connected to 'battery' side as a lot of UPS have a 'surge only' side that will not stop a rapid on/off power insult .

Sony remote control codes
For which remote exactly? Each manufacturer of programmable/learning remotes has their own code base and unique numbers for each code.
Asking for a code is like asking for the postcode/zip code of Acacia Avenue but without specifying the city and district.

If this is an on board (inside the TV) dvd reader writer than the device itself has failed and needs to be replaced. Call sony support and give them the TV model and location of make could be Canada , US or Mexico. They will identify the psrt snf quote ytou a price for replacement. The cost of an onsite visit is a minimum $99.00 plus the part. So if you are handy take it apart yourself and just duplicate the removal of the part in reverse and it should work.Good Luck Ed Pinero
I'm running 720p on my
If you are using the Component Cables make sure the switch on the
cable(part that you insert into Xbox 360) is set to HDTV and not TV
because if its set to TV, no matter what resolution you choose it will
go back to 480i.
If your using HDMI cable make sure that your TV is also outputting at an
HD resolution. Like okay let me explain this more clearly I'm not sure
on Sony HDTV's but we have a 46" Sharp Aquos HDTV LCD. I found out that the TV itself was still set to
output at 480i even though the Direct TV receiver was set to HD so I
went to my TV's options and changed to output the TV at 1080i then after
that everything was clear because both the receiver and the HDTV was
outputting at HD.
That maybe your problem. If your 360 in the settings menu is saying its
at 720p and your TV still looks long, maybe your TV's Zoom options are set to Stretch or Zoom, so basically you need to change your TV's options
to output at Normal.
In case of a problem or clarification or my solution was insufficient, don't hesitate to post me a reply.
If you are satisfied, rate my solution with the "thumbs" or (even better) add a testimonial.
Remote doesn't work
Check your remote batt first. if batt are new, check infra red light from remote using camera (selular cam etc). If infra red flashed on cam, that indicate remote is no problem. Call technician to check your tv.
Some Urine got on the back of my Sony Bravia
Sounds like you may have corrosion or water damage within your television. When electronics come in contact with any fluid it is best to leave them completely off/unplugged/battery-less for at least 24 to allow time to dry.
However, urine is corrosive by nature and could have permanently damaged your TV's internal components.
If your warranty covers accidental spills then you should be able to have the TV repaired or replaced at no charge (except for perhaps shipping if Sony asks you to send it to their warehouse or distribution center).
If not, you could always pull the excuse card. I believe, however, that Sony does warranty tests on all major products, so this most likely will not fly.
Best of luck.
Picture too big
With the TVs remote, look for the format button and press it until it says normal on the screen. If you are also using a Cable Box, check the setting for picture size on that too. It is easy to get odd interaction between the two.
I hope this helps,

Sony Bravia 46 XBR has the input bar stuck at the top of screen.
Unplug the TV for a while and hopefully, that should reset the circuity. If you're using the original remote control, check for the display button and press it.
I would also suggest doing a factory reset if your TV has that feature and if the TV allows you to do it after unplugging it.
