Don't upgrade the firmware on your Samsung BD-P1600. The firmware from Samsung is faulty and will most likely crashh your machine, Permanently !!!. I made that mistake last night. Now I have no Video output to my T.V. from any of the video outputs on the blu-ray player. Also the unit turns on but will only display LOAD , OPEN, CLOSE, ON, OFF... Nothing Works now.. This is apparently a common issue and there are several forums discussing this problem.. No fix that I have found !!
try to use a toothpick and put it on the small hole just beside the player so that you could remove/insert discs. Play it manually if the remote did not work...
I have a suggestion and this worked on the Sony Blue ray system. If you can format this on a CD disk and use Windows Media player to burn the disc on a CD in the wmv format I got them to play. I believe Samsung and Sony players are very much alike since samsung sold the technoligy to Sony for the Blue Ray and 3d blue ray. Is your computer set up to copy the DVD and then burn it on a CD? You might have to break it up into smaller files but I am not sure the size of files your dealing with.
Press the stop button on your controller when you get to the Disney castle, then press the disc menu button on your controller, this should take you to the disc menu and then you can choose play and watch the movie. This worked for me, I was having the same problem, even returned the Bluray disc, got a new one and same thing happened. The same problem is happening with the Tron bluray discs.
hi, there is possibility of two complaints. 1, The SMPS power supply fault 2. the mother board fault. if the SMPS is faulty the you can rectify the problem. If it is with the mother board the you have to contact the manufacturer . First of all you have to check the SMPS ( switch mode power supply). you have to check the voltages at it secondary stage. 5v, 12v, etc switched-mode power supply (switching-mode power supply, SMPS, or simply switcher) is an electronic power supply
that incorporates a switching regulator in order to be highly efficient
in the conversion of electrical power. Like other types of power
supplies, an SMPS transfers power from a source like the electrical power grid to a load (e.g., a personal computer) while converting voltage and current
characteristics. An SMPS is usually employed to efficiently provide a
regulated output voltage, typically at a level different from the input
voltage for checkin the SMPS voltaes you need a multimeter. And check the voltages at it secondary stage Added the inside view of BD 1600
if there is no outputs from the smps then you have to replace the SMPS drive STR ic near the big capacitor. Also ty to replace the OPTO coupler ic. y have to check the all resistors near the ic.
Remember one important thing that the capacitor can hold charge for some time even if you disconnect the power. so after removing the power. remove the SMPS very carefully. discharged the capacitor using a bulb. i have also added a video for SMPS working for you reference will hep you for repairing your one
Hello,
Turn your BD on without cd in it, wait until appear no disk on screen.
Use this combination : Repeat-5-6-7-3-2 , on screen will appear 3, than press 5.
Or if it not working, Repeat-5-6-7-3-2-Repeat-5.
Good luck.
PBC means playback control - generally a way for the user to control playback of Video CDs through on-screen menus. Unless it stops you from watching any discs, you don't need to worry about it.
That is an excellent question. There is no obvious answer, other than it can be uneconomical to repair if it is anything serious. Since this is NOT a recorder, it might not be viable to get it fixed to restore its Blu-Ray function, if DVDs play fine in it - keep it as a DVD player, and if you really want a working Blu-Ray machine, buy a new one - the difference between the cost of repairs to fix your existing one vs. the price of a brand new one with manufacturer's warranty can be somewhat significant in the long term. While new products gradually become cheaper, repairs become more expensive.
I don't think it would be worth spending your hard-earned dollars going to a workshop with this one if it is out of warranty; unless you want to do so. It depends on where you go and who you deal with. The choice is entirely yours.
The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, usually you will find that it will play the standard dvd movies without a hitch, but! blue ray movies require a higher velocity and more precision in the tracking to offer the much improved picture quality. When this happens the only option is to replace the assembly or go the cheaper route by replacing the entire player.
I looked around on that model and it seem a lot of people are having the same issue.
I would recommend that you try updating the firmware. There is a detailed explanation HERE on the topic of firmware.
You can also request a cd-rom of the firmware from Samsung
Or try downloading the firmware yourself and burn it to a CD-R
Samsung does a really good job at further explaining how to do those HERE
hope this helps get you going
