Changed from natural gas to propane when new oven flames up the side top burners ok
Just bought a Kenmore and did this conversion myself. You do not change the oven nozzle (jets) but have to wrench it down with a 1/2" wrench as per instructions. After I did this the falme was high as you described. I wrenched it down further and adjusted the air shuttle and it was fine. The brioler is done the same. The wrench adjustment is tight so be aware.
How to change over to lp gas on a kenmore model 79074239310
There is an item called a regulator, it is not the one that is just out of the tank. This one you can purchase it is only about 2-3 " in size and you install it where your propane line connects to your stove, at the end of your yellow or some times stainless steel line. Once installed all you do is flip the little cap on top of the regulator to the desired position Nat. or L.P. which means for natural gas use or liquid petroleum (propane). It allows you to use your stove with either one with just the flip of the cap on the regulator. They cost anywhere from $40 to $60. It is fast and easy, you can do it yourself. When you are done make sure you check for leaks before you use it. It is always a good idea to consult with a professional. Hope this helps and good luck.
Replace insulation in Kenmore stove
These are usually easy enough to take apart if you have have a well lit large room to work in, and take photos of what you remove as you go along.
First get it in a space where you can walk around it. Remove all SMALL screws from the back and wiggle panels as you go to see where they loosen and are still fixed by other screws. Take a sequence of digital camera pics as you go. You are trying to replace the insulation in the back and sides so you only need to remove the outer panels, not take the whole thing apart.
