You will need to split the signal with a 900mgz splitter between the living room and other room. if your pic is fuzzy you have a bad splitter or bad cable, try replacing these one at a time and it should clear up. If your getting a sat pic but ti is fuzzy its for sure in the line somewhere fro teh splitter.

Skipping, feezing on recorded programs. third dvr. all same

I am very sorry to hear you have continually experienced problems with your VIP 612 DVR receiver, a important question when considering what may be causing issues with the numerous receiver you have had is, are you fully powering off the receiver each & every night? If not I would recommend doing so, by powering off the receiver each night it allows the receiver to receive necessary updates and helps to prevent these types of DVR issues. Perhaps you may want to try this and seeing if it resolves the problem. Additionally, another recommendation I would like to make to hopefully help prevent further frustrations with the DISH Network DVR receiver, would be to delete older recordings you have already watched or may not need anymore, this can also help when trying to prevent & fix DVR problems.
I hope these tips resolve the issue or help to improve the DVR functioning. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

Device code?

Rukidn79,

I was unsure which device you're looking for a code for so I included a link that has codes for all equipment including TV manufacturers, DVD players, amplifiers, etc. You can look up the code and your equipment type. Also below is a basic way to program your remote to a TV.

1. With TV on, hold down the TV button on top of the remote until all lights turn on.
2. Let go and it will blink. Enter code and press #
3. Try functions of remote. If works put SAT and you're good to go. If not then repeat steps 1 and 2 with another code.

Receiver freezes every few hours

It sounds like something else may be causing an issue. Since so many replacements have been made, but the problem persists I would recommend getting a technician out to look at the problem to make sure everything else is fine.

Satellite Receiver to Yamaha Receiver

It sounds like either on the 612 or the Yamaha Receiver that the HDMI port is faulty, thus causing the flashing picture. It sounds like the 612 to the TV works fine. I would recommend replacing the Yamaha, and if problem persists then try replacing the 612.

We can't look at our recordings and when we try to

Hi, my name is Cheri Torres and I am with DISH Network Customer Service. I came across your post and wanted to see if I could help. I do have a few questions about the issue that you are having so that I can give you the best possible answer on how to fix this. When you try to access your recordings do you ever get an error message and if so what is the three digit number in the top right corner of the error message? Once your receiver box turns off does it reboot itself and turn back on or do you have to do something specific to get the receiver box to turn back on? One trouble shooting step you may want to try if you already have not is unplugging your DISH receiver from the power source outlet for 10 seconds then plug back in. In order to respond back to my questions you can either post back here or you can also email me at [email protected] and I will be happy to assist you further. Thanks! :)

When i play some of my recordings they will freeze

la2172

It appears there may have been an issue with those recordings when they were recorded. Since you stated that some of the recording are freezing, those recordings are corrupted and the problem on those recordings cannot be corrected. You may try to re-record to see if it occurs again. I hope this helps.

ViP 612: i need the code for the dvr vip612...

You didn't specify the code you need, for TV or another component, so I am providing a link for the codes that will provide information for different TV manufacturers, DVD players, amplifiers, etc. You can look for your brand for the correct code. A have also provided instructions on programming the remote to this component. I hope this helps.

Program to TV:
Remotes: Basic (Television Only)
  1. Turn the Television On
  2. Press and Hold the TV Power button for three seconds until the LED flashes
  3. Enter the three-digit code using the buttons on the number pad.
  4. Press OK. Note: The LED will flash three times.
  5. Test functionality with the TV
  6. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.

I am trying to record

alaskan_swee

I apologize you are experiencing this problem with your timers. When you display the program information (pressing the "Info" button on the remote), what does it show for the original aired date? If it is a premier, then you might check your software version on the receiver to make sure it is current. The current version is L6.41 or L6.40. If you do have the current software version, have you reset your receiver. If not, unplug the receiver for 10 seconds and plug back in. After the picture returns, see what is displayed. If it still has the wrong information, delete the timer and setup a new one to see if this will resolve this issue. I hope this helps.

My dish network receiver vip

Hi, Mary with Dish Network Customer Service. I am sorry you are having a problem with the door on your 612 receiver box. The only to resolve this is to exchange out the receiver box for a cosmetic issue. They will send a new receiver and you can return that one. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

My dish network receiver vip 612 push to open door

r_fidis,

You should be able to just press the door closed with it staying closed. If the door won't stay closed when you try to close it, then the latch mechanism may be defective. There's nothing for you to worry about with the door not staying closed. I hope this helps. If you have any other issues, please respond to this site.

Hello! The guide might be set to only HD. You will find this out by going into the guide. At the top Left of your guide, you will see that it says left to the right of the DISH Network logo. If it says ALL HD, then just press the GUIDE button again, until the list says ALL CHAN or ALL SUB. This way, you can view not only HD channels, but SD channels as well! Hope this helps!!!!

This may be a remote

Hello bdobbins2 my name is Mike Houston of DISH Network customer service. It seems like we will need to re-program the remote. The first thing we need to do is press the System Info button on the receiver box, then their will be a number in a white box. We will want to write that down and then we will get the DISH remote and push and release the SAT button on the top left of the remote and then we will push and release the Record button one time. The number will change and the remote will work better. And if these steps do not work we will need to unplug the receiver for 10 seconds and plug it back in, it will power up by itself.

My new ViP612 has started making this annoying

Hello there! Becki Barned with Dish Network customer service here! The sound that you are hearing is probably the hard drive spinning. If it makes a clicking noise, then the receive may need to be replaced. Try moving the receiver to a well ventilated area, so that the receiver gets enough air, and if that doesn't work, blog back, we can help from there, or you can reach us on Twitter!

I want to connect dvd

Hey! This is Becki Barned, with Dish Network customer service!!! You may have already gotten this taken care of, but either way, here are some steps if you still need some help! How I imagine you have this set up, is that you have RCA cables going from the receiver to the main tv. In this case, you will want to take the RCA cables from the receiver to the DVD recorder to a port that says IN. Then you will want to have either coax or RCA going from the DVD from a port that says OUT to the tv. If you use coax, the tv needs to be on channel 3/4, and the DVD on an input. If you use RCAs, the tv will also need to be on an input, such as video 1 or 2. Good luck! Blog back if any troubles!! :) Happy troubleshooting!!!!
