To open that dryer ya need to first remove the top by removing the screws in the rear of it,then remove the control panel...behind the control panel are screws that hold the front panel to the cabinet.

this tip i wrote will help ya to determine why its not heating...after disconnecting the front panel it can be letf connected to run the dryer to see whats happening as far as the igniter not coming on or whatnot

After 9 years you are going to need to replace some parts. If the ignitor works and the flame sensor is shutting down the gas but the flame stops after a while or not at all then them cols need to be replaced.

You probably have a broken belt - pop the top and check it. Top held down with spring clip - pry it open - bve careful of finish.

It can really only be two things. The element or wiring to it has failed or The Thermal fuse has been overheated and cut off power. Both can be checked with a Digital Multimeter. If your Amana dryer is not heating, it likely has either a defective heating element, thermal fuse, high-limit thermostat, or cycling thermostat. That is dangerous. Call for service, the law says only registered gas technicians can work on gas appliances. Turn the gas off at the rear. There is enough gas in a dryer leak to blow your windows out on that floor. The igniter or thermocouple is faulty.

Question edited for clarity.No, you normally do a full tear down and split the outer drum to get to the screw on the inner drum. You could undo it with grips from inside and use a magnet taped to a coat hanger to collect the screw from between the gap.

It is a gas appliance and can only be worked on by a register gas certified technician.

Check your lint screen and vent for restrictions or clogs. Then check the resistance for the thermistor at the control board. You need to confirm that the wiring and replacement thermistor are undamaged. Look for the white connector and test across pin 2 (blue) and pin 6 (red). If the resistance is in range, then the control board is faulty. Replace the control board. I hope this helps.
