Well it could be a problem with the flame detecter. With age the bi-metal tends to take a lot longer to reset so that the ignitor can begin another heat cycle. The ignitor is either gonna be good or bad no in between. The coils that open the gas valve tend to get hot and short out with a little age. That is a common problem with these good old gas dryers. You need to inspect the blower housing and filter area for air restrictions. Lets see what else? Oh yeah the control mounted on the blower housing could be bad. It has 4 terminals, 2 small ones that operate a heater that heats up the bi-metal disc inside to make it shut down faster for knits and permapress stuff. Clever ain't it? Note:These photos are correct in nature to this response but not specific to your model. Now that you have an idea what to look for you need to be sure and order the exactamundo by using your model number amigo. Get parts:

It can really only be two things. The element or wiring to it has failed or The Thermal fuse has been overheated and cut off power. Both can be checked with a Digital Multimeter. If your Amana dryer is not heating, it likely has either a defective heating element, thermal fuse, high-limit thermostat, or cycling thermostat. If you have a gas dryer, it is likely not heating because of a defective gas valve solenoid. Feb 2, 2022

That is dangerous. Call for service, the law says only registered gas technicians can work on gas appliances. Turn the gas off at the rear. There is enough gas in a dryer leak to blow your windows out on that floor. The igniter or thermocouple is faulty.

Question edited for clarity.No, you normally do a full tear down and split the outer drum to get to the screw on the inner drum. You could undo it with grips from inside and use a magnet taped to a coat hanger to collect the screw from between the gap.

It is a gas appliance and can only be worked on by a register gas certified technician.

Check your lint screen and vent for restrictions or clogs. Then check the resistance for the thermistor at the control board. You need to confirm that the wiring and replacement thermistor are undamaged. Look for the white connector and test across pin 2 (blue) and pin 6 (red). If the resistance is in range, then the control board is faulty. Replace the control board. I hope this helps.
