it's called "broadcasting". open your owners manual, turn to page 7-3, and begin following the directions. quite simple, but too long to explain here.

Make sure the phone cord is plugged into the LINE port of the fax machine.

Check the phone line with a regular phone.

Lift up the document feeder and clean the scanner glass.

Wite-out most likely on the glass.

The entire front, sides, and rear cover is all one piece. Take the screws out and lift straight up.

Add toner.

Try changing the Drum Unit again....it cannot be anything else besides a worn out drum cleaning blade.

The drum cleaning blade is worn out. You must replace the Drum Unit.

Press function 2864 quickly .... Maintenance Mode...enter 79. Unplug power cord after the memory clears

Call the operator for the country code., you will have to enter the COUNTRY CODE and the phone number, just like a regular phone.

011-1-XXX-XXX-XXXX example.

For an internal fax, just dial the other fax machine's extension.

Try lifting the document feeder to see if a switch actuator is held down.

You will have to contact an Authorized Brother dealer in your area.

there is a lever in the back that you need to lift up to make it go to the front

1- check the small stip of glass and see if it has toner,
check the maintenance section of the manual (it's free, just register)

Try hitting Menu * 2864 (it should say maintenance) then 91 then 99

This will reset the fax machine without erasing your settings. It should clear it up. If it doesn't work after a few tries, you have to hit 0 instead of 91 and that will reset the entire fax machine to factory defaults.

if the copy comes out black and/or sends black the Contact Image Sensor in the scanner may be needed.

Can you see light from the scanner unit with you make a copy or try to send out faxes? The bulb for the scanner may be burnt. You might be able to find a replacement bulb, search google or contact Brother.

It is probably jammed in the back door of the fax. Check that and see if you find anything.

The error is related to the fuser assembly overheating. The only course of action you could take would be to turn off the machine for an hour or so to give the memory time to reset. If that does not resolve the problem, then the fuser assembly needs replacement (Part# LJ7759001). This should be replace by a certified tech.

try resetting the machine by pushing the features button, and then *2864 in quick succesion, if done correctly you will enter test mode, then enter 91, and then after that clears enter 99 to exit test mode. make a copy to see if it works, and if it doesn't it is time to replace the fixing assy.
