My sewing machine starts running as soon as I turn the light on. how can I stop it?

The power cord sounds like it is shorted. It can be repaired or replaced. Here is a good place to order one. http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/needle-threader-singer-503277.aspx

Brother take apart

Hello Before you take the machine apart, check that the bobbin winder is not engaged and that the fly wheel is locked in place. Both can be done without taking the machine apart. Happy Stitching.

My shuttle came out and dont know how to put it back.

Hold the bobbin case with open side towards you. The thread should unwind on the top of the bobbin from the left. Place it in the case so when the thread is pulled into the slot in the side, the bobbin rotates clockwise. Pull thread to the left under the tension spring and fit case and bobbin over the central spool inside hook assembly. With the locating finger in its recess, press case home and it will lock into position with a click..

How do you thread bobbin for Bicor VX1005?

Look through these threading guides for a Brother that has the same features. http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Threading_Diagrams.htm

The above site has a manual, but I not a threading guide. Unless it is the same as another model.

When I use the wheel or foot petal my machine wont go up and down any more

your machine is most likely "gummy". when sewing machines sit the oils get sticky, particularly in entry level machines as they use cheaper oil. there could also be some tangled threads and lint that are adding to the problem. if your machine was shipped or dropped something may have been bent or broken out of alignment. at best, your machien needs a labor intensive process of dissassembly cleaning and re-lubricating. i would there is probably not a quick fix. i would recommend taking it to a sewing machine repair shop. call ahead to make sure they give free estimates. you may have to leave it for a time but if they charge for estimates then they're not a good shop. i am a sewing mechanic of 20 yrs

My sewing has a 110 volts, but i plug in at 220,wht should i do?

Buy a converter transformer - this will convert the 220v mains to 110v. They are also used as safety isolation transformers on construction sites but cheaper, domestic, transformers are also available for household appliances, but first check the power consumption of your sewing machine by looking at the specification section of the handbook and make sure you purchase a transformer with at least 50% extra power rating.

Bobbin case will not stay in place

the best solution is to take it to a sewing machine shop & let them see if a part is missing.

LS-1520 Brother sewing machine hook pick thread up takes it around half way and gets stuck...any ideas. the timing seems to be right??!!

try changing needlesclean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for loose thread or lintmake sure the bobbin is inserted into the bobbin case correctly--if the machine won't pick the thread up from the bobbin correctly take the bobbinout of the case & turn it around & try it that way.

Just changed the needle on

Firstly check that needle has been placed into the needle holder the right way, ie flat shank to the back. If you look closely at the needle there is a cut away at the back called the "Scarf" and this must face to the back of the machine as the rotary hook swings through there and catches the thread to make each stitch.

Also, check needle is fully up into the housing.

There is some good trouble shooting tips and tricks on this website. http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Repair/Sewing%20Machine%20Troubleshooting.htm

So check needle is in the right way, check threading up is correct and thread is in the needle eye. If none of these resolve the issue, then it is possible you knocked the timing out when you broke the needle. Remember, never drag fabric as it is stitched, let the machine feed it, you just guide it. Dragging is a sure fire way to break a needle.

If timing is out, (you can see info on what this means on www.sewusa.com site too) then you probably need to take it for a service to address this issue.
