Just hold the spool with a dowel or pencil and apply pressure on the thread coming off the spool with your fingers so the bobbin will wind tightly and shift the spool as needed to keep it winding evenly. I also do this all the time with Cone thread by just standing the cone thread on the table in front of the sewing machine and holding the thread with one hand so it comes straight up off the cone and the other hand and fingers controls the tension and the even winding of the bobbin.

madam can you see on the panel for the symbols of straight stitch ,cross stitch,zig zag stitch here you can select the program.

Screw it back in after replacing the needle.

Please check the Bobbin Winder.If the Bobbin Winder shaft is moved to the right position (bobbin winding mode), the needle will not move.
Please return the Bobbin Winder shaft to the left position and press the Start-Stop Button or Foot Control to start the machine in the sewing mode.

Feed the thread thru one of the holes (the hole that will be on top) going from the middle of the bobbin thru to top. pull up about 2 inches, push the bobbin over to start winding and before pressing the foot, hold the 2inch piece sticking up. HOLD TIGHT. after the thread is wound about 25 times, stop winding and snip the 2inch piece level with the top of the bobbin. Finish winding.

There is a set screw above the needle pin screw which tightens with an allen wrench--try that.

how do i get the bobbin out of the case

you can go to www.brother-usa.com and get an online manual. You can print it out or just save to your computer and reference. It should tell you how to get the casing set right. Good luck.

position the foot under the shaft making sure the horizontal pin on the foot is in line with the horizontal groove on the end of presser foot fitting on the shaft. Lower the pressor foot arm and it should snap right on. If not, press it up manually. the directions should be in your manual. If you don't have your manual, you can get it online at www.brother-usa.com

If you're talking about the little plastic box that attaches in front of the bobbin area, this is usually referred to as a "free-arm extension."
