Raising and Lowering the feed dog on Janome 4900 MC

These machines are known to have this problem. The feed lift cam has a groove worn in it that won't allow the feed dogs to come back up. It is on the lower shaft and needs to be replaced. You can get the feed dogs back up by taking off the needle plate and lifting them up manually while turning the hand wheel. They should stay up until you drop them again.
Some people will not replace the cam and live with it.
good luck!

Janome Memory Craft 4900 QC

its the sensor on the bobinwinder who are loose. If you are handy. you can remove the top cover of the machine.
And on the left side of the bobinwinder you will find a micro switch. Probably you have to tighten the screw on it..

Is the hand wheel hard to turn? If so this could be a lot of things, anywere from needing lubrication to a siezed bushing or just a large amout of thread in the takeup lever.
You will need to remove the covers to diagnos this problem. I so I would recomend taking it to your dealer for a clean and service. If they tell you it is not repairable go somewere ells. That just means he does not no how to fix it.
If the handwheel is not hard to turn let me know.

I have a Janome 6000

Go to http://www.sewconsult.com/sewing_machine_troubleshooting/sewing_machine_troubleshooting.htm#my_bobbin_thread_won_t_get_picked_up_by_1 and click on "My bobbin thread won't get picked up by the top thread" if you're brought to the top of the page.

This is a pretty good page for some basic troubleshooting of machine problems.

Hope it helps-especially since the pictures are pretty clear. It does a much better job than I could on my own!

My Janome Memory Craft 4900

  • Check the bobbin and be sure the bobbin is threaded correctly and that the bobbin case is correctly threaded. Be sure the bobbin is in the bobbin case in correct direction .
  • Always watch for bobbin wear, especially on the plastic type of bobbins. If the edges of the plastic are showing abrasions, the size of the bobbin has changed and may be the culprit. Although the size change is minute, it allows the bobbin to wobble in the case and changes the tension.
  • ------------
  • The sewing machine bobbin case may be removable from the sewing machine or it may be built in to the sewing machine.
  • Bobbin cases are not interchangeable in different sewing machines
  • All bobbin cases have a threading pattern.
  • A bobbin is placed into a removable bobbin case so the thread and the slot form an upside-down "V".
  • if everything is proper the bobbin case or bobbin holder spindle has to be checked and replaced.
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

Drop the feeddog

It is noted as item 12 on the Name of Parts diagram p3 of your manual and the operation is described on p25

Below the buttons on the right side...on the base ....is a slide switch with a teeth diagram. This is the Drop feed selector. Left is feed up, Right is feed down. To re-engage, rotate handwheel one full revolution (after sliding to up position) to re-engage.....

Janome 350E Sewing Machine. I am getting a message telling me to raise the presser foot and needle bar then turn off the machine. After doing all that the message is still there? What can I do?

Are you having any problems moving the needle bar with the hand wheel? Make sure that the presser foot is up and the needle bar is fully up. Then redo the top threading for the machine. Try unplugging the machine and blowing any loose debris out of the needle bar area. (I'd suggest compressed (canned) air or equivalent to minimize excess moisture in the electronics.) Also check if the machine gives the same message with the presser foot and needle down on restart. If the problem persists, then the issue is likely to be a faulty control board. I don't know if any sewing machine repair technicians still have spare boards. They aren't on the in stock parts at two vendors that I know. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

I have a Janome model 577 (I know it's old!!) and

If the top tension is on 0 I suspect the problem begins in the bobbin, make sure first of all the bobbin is turning anti clockwise in the bobbin case, when you pull the thread through the bobbin case there should be slight resistence, if it is too loose turn the screw on the bobbin case clockwise about a quarter of a turn to tighten, if it is not making muh difference you may have fluff stuck under the spring on the bobbin casem take a fine sewing needle and slide it under the spring to see if you can get any fluff out, top tension about 4 or 5

I have the Janome CHJ-3 Kwiknit Knitter and am having some problems with it. Purchased this machine some40 years ago and used it an awful lot and was always very happy with it. After storage and loaning it out, it now does not work. Needs a service I suppose which I would like to do myself. Does this machine have a sponge bar? Also I can copy the manual and send it to you - please let me know.
