Simplicity Sew Precious SWSP2 Mechanical Sewing Machine Questions & Answers
How do you thread the machine, top and bottom, please.
From the Simplicity Sew Precious Model SWSP2 manual:
Inserting a new bobbin:
- Place wound bobbin into the bobbin case.
- Pull about 6 inches of thread out from the bobbin.
NOTE: Be sure that the bobbin rotates COUNTER-CLOCKWISE when thread is pulled.
- Pass the thread from the bobbin, under the bobbin case spring, and toward the back of the machine.
- Slide bobbin cover back into position.
Upper threading:
- Turn the handwheel toward you to raise the take-up lever to its highest position.
- Lower the presser foot.
- Place a spool of thread and spool cap on the spool pin.
- Place the thread into the first thread guide at the top of the machine.
- Bring the thread down the right slot of the threading path, then around the tension dial. Push the thread tension release lever and pull the thread up so the thread is secure in the thread tension dial.
- Bring the thread up the left slot of the threading path and through the take-up lever from right to left.
- Bring the thread back down the left slot of the threading path and into the needle eye from front to back. (Clip the thread end with sharp scissors fro easier needle threading.)
Raising the bobbin thread
- Make sure the presser foot lever is raised.
- Hold the end of the needle thread with your left hand. Turn the hand wheel toward you with your right hand until the needle goes down once and comes back up, stopping when the needle is at its highest position.
- Gently pull up on the needle thread. The bobbin thread, looped around the needle thread, will be drawn up through the needle hole.
- Push the thread tension release lever and pull about six inches of both the upper and lower threads toward the back of the machine, placing them under the presser foot.

I have a model SWSP2
Just check that the needle is in the right way, flat shank to the back. If you've accidentially put it in backwards, this will prevent stitches from being formed.
Other possibility is that the machine timing is out (service time) but try the needle first, it is an easy mistake to make.
What is the bobbin size
go to sewingpartsonline.com, look for the name of the machine & then the modelnumber & it will show the parts for the machine & it should have the bobbins also

Unless you want serious problems don not attempt it, if there is a problem inside the machine take it in for repair
Bobin will not pick up
Hello
The most common reason I see for bobbin thread not being picked up is that the needle is in backwards. Or the needle is a little bent (sometimes it's so little you can't see it, but the machine knows!). So start by trying a new needle (size 80/12 is what's used for test sewing on most machines). If that doesn't work, turn the needle 180 degrees and try again -- there is a definite front and back to a sewing machine needle.
Make certain that your bobbins are the exact ones recommended for your machine. Many look similiar, but if they are off even slightly in depth, they will not work. Also, make certain your bobbin in locked into position in it's case and the thread is coming from the bobbin in the correct direction. When holding my metal bobbin in my hand, the thread pulls counter clockwise before placing it into my front loading bobbin case. Each machine is different so check your manual.
The take-up lever on my
Yes. Not only it's a simple part that every repair shop will be able to fix or replace , but the machine itself can function without it - you will need to manually raise the pressure foot. For that a great force will be needed , but only when raising it.
