Singer Quantum 9940 Computerized Sewing Machine - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My machine will not pick up the bobbin thread
Install a brand new needle (verify it is facing the proper direction).
Remove all the thread from the machine. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading. Rethread the machine from the beginning--verify the thread path is correct. Leave at least 4-6" of thread tail. from the needle (Avoid using old or bargain bin thread.)
Insert the bobbin in the bobbin case (make sure the bobbin is turning the correct direction) and thread the bobbin case. Load the bobbin case in the machine. Leave at least 4-6" of thread tail.
Set the upper tension to the midway point.
Retest your machine. Turn the handwheel toward you manually until the needle completes one full cycle of going down and up.
If it is still not picking up the bobbin thread, it may have a needle/hook timing issue. Take it for service.

Just purchased the Singer Quantum Stylist 9960,
When you pull the needle threader down it seems like it is pulled all the way down but it isn't. Pull it a little harder and it will turn and go down all the way to match up with the needle eye. I was a little scared to apply the extra "force", thinking I could break my new machine. Just be easy with it and it will work just like the manual says.Good luck....
What size bobbin to use on 9960 model singer
Your Singer 9960 uses Style 15J bobbins, they cost around $1.50 each. You can get them at most Fabric Stores, Ebay and Amazon . You have a great sewing machine enjoy it and have fun. Good luck
Bobbin thread keeps catching under the plate
Your needle may be new, but Is needle correct size for fabric you are sewing? If so, is needle all the way up as far as it will go in needle bar shaft, flat side in back & more rounded side facing you? Stretch knits and wovens, denims, and leather do not use same needle size.

I have a Singer Quantum
Have you actually put fabric under the foot, and started sewing a few stitches? On some machines the feed dogs do not reengage until the machine has gone through a full stitch sequence. So it looks like they are still down and nothing is happening until you've actually pressed the pedal and tried to stitch again. Also some computerised machines, try turning off and leaving off for 30 seconds, then turn on and try to stitch, sometimes this will work too.
How do I load bobbin
Go to http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals/search and enter "9940." You can download the manual for free for the machine, which should tell you exactly how to load the bobbin.
It's a good idea to have the user's manual, anyways, and the downloaded one is more complete than the printed one of Singer's manuals in any case.
Error message shows foot pedal, power to machine
