Check the local sewing repair shop to see if they can order it for you. You can also search the internet for the manufacturer, model and the word "parts" to see if there are any online suppliers for your machine. If you are creative, you may be able to jerryrig something using a plastic drinking straw, chopstick, or a wooden dowel.

Do not know how to
I don't know your model but most machines have 2 common setting devices, namely a stitch width dial (how wide the needle swings) and a stitch length dial, how far apart the stitches are. So a normal straight stitch is "width" set to zero and "length" set to 2.5. If the machine has several different stitches then there may be a "stitch selector" too where you can choose the stitch style, ie zig-zag, 3 step zigzag, blind hem stitch etc.
You could try to locate a manual or threading diagram at various websites or visit sewing.about.com which gives good general information on threading and use.

I sewed a few days
Try the old hair dryer trick, take off the cover, pay attention where the screws go, put some gloves on, then work the reverse lever, button or whatever you have on your machine and your stitch length dial. It may have old grease or oil that needs to soften. Now put your machine back together. Clean and Oil your machine as per your manual. Try rethreading and a new needle before you sew. If you don't have your manual, go to
www.singerco.com and under customer support and download one for free. Good luck. I hope that I have helped you, my advice is free.

Having trouble threading the bobbin
Go to
www.singerco.com and under customer service download a free copy of your manual, now enlarge the diagram to see it better. If, you are having problems raising the bobbin thread, make sure that you have a good needle, it is always good to replace needles frequently. Replace with flat side facing the rear of the machine.

I have threaded and re-threaded this machine. the
Do you have good quality thread? And upper and lower thread is of the same weight? Put in a new needle. Also check how you are threading the machine, put your presser foot up and pull on the top thread, it should feed smooth, then put the presser foot down, now the thread should barely move when you pull on it. You can download a copy of your machine manual for free at
www.singerco.com and enlarge the diagrams to see it better.

Im having problems getting a straight stitch could
I would use a 11/75 needle, then a walking foot if you have one. If, you do not, use some gift tissue paper between layers, or stabilizer. Keep your stitches between 10-12 per inch. Regular fabrics, just your usual stitches that your manual recommends. If, you misplaced your manual go to
www.singerco.com and download a free one and save it on your computer.

I've oiled the area where the needle area is on my
I looked at Singer's site.PRACTICALLY ANY OTHER ITEM YOU CAN THINK OF WILL GIVE YOU A FREE OWNER'S MANUAL DOWNLOAD EXCEPT SINGER.Anyhow,I tried to research your model because I oil my wife's all the time and do the proper maintenance and I think I know what you are asking.Screws in the back to remove the cover? That should be no problem, they are just a little tricky to put back in but after a couple times of doing it you can learn little tricks to make it go easier. If you have the manual to show you where to oil, please let me know, otherwise i can do my best to describe it as is not too bad.I'll just tell anyways I guess. The rod that slides up and down which has the needle at the end needs a couple of drops above and below the separator and it helps a little to slightly wipe it,just to spread the oil,not to clean it or remove the oil.Separate the bobbin insert. The outside part of it needs a couple of drops on the INSIDE section of it.It helps to buy canned computer air to blow out the lint.DO NOT MOUTH BLOW PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.If that helps, please let me know.If you have any questions, just comment back here and i will get an autolink to your post. Also,be as descriptive as possible. All this technology, and we still basically pass along stuff in a method similar to morse code.lol.Also,if you have the owner's manual and have a question about a diagram, you could scan it or digital pic it or cell pic/text it to my email as I have done it alot.Good luck! Thread continuously getting ****/caught in shuttle
My first thought would be to check the threading on the top, all though it may look right undo it and redo it its real easy to get the tread behind the tension discs, instead of between them. If all that is right check your upper tension, but not until you have rethreaded it.

Just bought s Singer 1725. Tried a straight
"Birdnesting" occurs when there is no tension on the needle thread to pull the bobbin thread. This is easily corrected by rethreading the machine, following the threading path carefully and making sure the thread is fully engaged in the tension mechanism.
