When the system comes up with such a notice it is usually because one of the numerous components which makes the program to run on the OS is not properly installed. This is a problem which is common with windows Vista as it is mostly not compatible with a lot of programs.
Certain windows vista packages always have compatibility issues with these programs. Most especially the ultimate edition, home basic and the home premium vista.
It is better for you to upgrade your OS to windows 7 as this OS corrects most of the issues which come with the windows Vista.
To access the program you have to change your operating system and re-install the program. Operating systems which are adviced are windows 7 and XP service pack 2 these are very compatible with your program.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

If you still have a problem with the USB cable being recognized, besure you're plugging it into the BACK of your machine, not through a hub or inone of the front ports. The program for the embroidery machine and the USBcable require more power than either of these allow, a technical point Singerdoesn't seem to be aware of. This solution is quite abit more complicated, but you can get there. You're going to want to download a free and SAFE softwarecalled VmWare Player. The download requires you to register, but there's nocost, it's updated regularly to keep it safe and has been thoroughly checkedout by a lot of geek experts out there. It's available at http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/desktop_downloads/vmware_player/3_0.Fill in the required information, follow the instructions from the email you'resent, and download the software. Normally, the software will be downloaded tothe "Downloads" folder, unless you tell it to download elsewhere. Before you do anything else, place the Windows XP CD in yourCD drive. Make sure you have the registration number ready. Now go to the"Downloads" folder, double click on the VmWare installation file(Vmware-player-etc, etc) and follow the instructions to install. Safety device activated; cannot turn

Try opening the machine and check to see if the gears that are attached to the motor belts are turning. They may need oil, or they may be snagged with thread.

We had the same problem and couldn't get a straight answer about where the "safety device" is or how it could be deactivated. When we got disconnected from Customer Service after having been on hold for 20 mins, we broke open the machine and found a little oil on the pulley system sent the whole thing working again.

Good luck!

you must right click on the task bar and left click task manager. You then click on the processes tab and click install exe then click end process. A pop up menus will ask you if you really want to end process and you click yes. then click out the task manager window and wait. Within a few seconds you frozen window will unfreeze.
If after that you are successful in installing your software, please let me know what steps you took. I go through all the steps and end up with my computer saying that the drivers didn't install. The problem is six months ago, after some trouble, I did manage to install it but not this time!
