My machine did the same thing. I had several frustrated nights ans then it just started to work. Some suggestions that I had was that there may be dust where the units connect. Not sure what I did, but it worked.

After reading through your problem, I began doing some research. You are correct with your initial assumption. Singer at this time, does not support Vista 64bit Operating System. They will support it on Vista 32bit, but even then you would have to install it in what is called, "Compatability Mode." Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to have many vendors not have their software work on 64bit systems. Many programs/applications were only written to work on 32bit systems. you can see the feed dogs in the needle plate area and be able to feel them with your fingerand the machine will sew a straight stitch when the feed dogs are in the up sewing positionif the feed dogs are down then the machine will not sew only stay in one position

Not much you can do about it because of the software's limitation. If you're serious about digitizing, get yourself a good software such as Brother PE Design.

Most probably the sewing machine driver is not installed properly. You can launch troubleshooting utility and send its repot to Singer to find out why it happens.
