Singer Quantum XL-1000 Computerized Sewing Machine - Page 6 Questions & Answers
I am trying to put
are you using machine embroidery thread for this purpose and not regular sewing machine thread? also would need some tear away stabiliser under the fabric to give it support, and a new sharp needle.
Cause of thread breaking could be too tight top tension (or faulty tension device), old dry thread, something catching the thread between the spool and the needle (visually check the threading path and make sure the thread isnt catching around an eyelet or on the top of the thread spool), or a burred or bent needle. If it is the bottom thread that is breaking then check the bobbin thread is in tension fully and bobbin is rotating in right direction (usually anticlockwise).
Obviously if you have tried all the above and are an experienced user of this machine and its playing up like this, then you may need to take it to the shop for further investigation to establish why its faulting.
I keep get a connection error. Ck that USB cable
Make sure you have the USB plugged into the back USB ports on a desktop computer and try each of the different ports on a laptop computer. What Singer doesn't tell you (and probably isn't aware of) is that the back ports provide more voltage than the front ones (and is also true of certain ports on your laptop). The USB cable and your computerized sewing machine require more voltage than the other ports allowed.
Give this a try-it should do the trick.
Wheel won't turn
Hello,
The same thing happend to me with an older model (Singer XL 10). I have been sewing a decorating stitch and the machine stopped suddenly. Now I am not able to turn the hand wheel anymore like I should (I can move it a little bit, but the needle does not move up and down and the wheel is getting stuck). When I try to use the pedal the motor makes a horrible noise and stops. The needle is not moving up and down.
Is there a solution for that problem? I moved from Europe to Australia and have not used my machine since. Today is the first day, I was cleaning and oiling it and it first sewed perfectly. In case that there would be thread stuck somewhere, how could I possibly clean that? I already took off the plastic from the head, but I can not see where the problem is.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
Best regards,
Nelly
Bobbin case drive gear is
Yes, that is fine. Only while you are removing parts, please keep a note os what and when you remove so that while assembling it the sequence comes in handy and you do not have to use the hit and trial method.
How do you download several
The software provided with the sewing machine has the ability to create words and even has 6 types of letters placement.
HI. I have a Singer
Ok normally, when you get noise, you should Check to see that lint or oil has not collected on the hook or needle
bar. Always use a good quality sewing machine oil. A damaged needle
can also be the cause of a noisy machine - insert a new needle.
The top thread on my machine breaks. When i tug on
Are you using the proper spool cap? Is the thread freely unwinding? How old is your thread? Check your tension, it should correspond with the weight of you fabric and the needle size should be what your manual recommends. Lower the tension setting if necessary, mine is at 3 and is good for most things. Other than this, I don't know what can cause this without you taking it in for service. I hope you can fix it for free. Good luck
What are he different feet used for?
The main types of feet are:
1. ZigZag foot. This has a wide gap for the needle to move from side to side and the two pointy ends of the feet curve upwards. This is used for ZigZag and decorative stitches,
2. Straight Stitch foot. This has a small round gap and one side is usually wider than the other. It's used for straight stitching.
3. Rolled-Hem foot. This has a spiral in the middle and is used for rolling and sewing hems neatly.
4. Zipper Foot. This has no gap as the needle goes to one side or the other of the foot. It usually has two attachment points for snapping on to the shank, depending on which side of the zipper you are sewing.
5. Invisble Hem foot. Used for making invisible hems. It's hard to describe how it looks. Mine has extra white plastic parts around it and some kind of screw to make adjustments as to width etc.
6. Buttonhole foot. My buttonhole foot is white and has numbers along one edge. The size of the buttonhole can be altered, using the numbers as a guide.
7. Edging foot. This has a strip of springy metal on the left side and is used to guide the material into the path of the needle in order to sew close to the edge to prevent fraying.
8. Rolling foot. This has rollers and is useful for sewing thicker materials or quilts etc. It is similar, but not as good as a walking foot.
9. You might also have a Teflon ZigZag foot, it's the same as the zigzag foot but made of white plastic. It's used for sewing vinyl and leather materials.
I think that's it, hope this helps!
Singer Quantum XL-1000 - I
I am attaching two photos, I cant say which one is worse, but may help. Both are of a Singer machine.
There is a lug on the casing that has to go into a slot made on the ring where it rotates. The bobbin does not matter as it has to rotate in any case but its casing stays stationer because of this lug.
My mother in law gave me her Quantum XL1000
Go to singerco.com and look under customer support, frequently asked questions and see if the answer is there. Or, you can just call Singer customer service at 1-800-4singer and they will tell you how to get it. Good luck
Sewing slow. thinks is needs
Look in your manual, or go online to singerco.com and download your manual. Do not oil if you are not sure where to do it, because you can wreak havoc on your machine if you do it wrong, my sister learned the hard way.
Sewing machine will not manually
First remove the needle, bobbin parts and check for thread jammed. Removing one peice at a time and checking if it will turn will tell you what the problem is when it unjams. If none of these things are the problem it may be in the motor linkage.
