Try ironing the hem in place first and then loosen the bottom plate tension. Does sound like a tension issue though

I've looked at your manual and do not see the buttons that you are referring to, what buttons are your pressing? Are you sure of your model number? I want to help you but I need more detail. I have 50+ years of sewing and feel if I do know the whole problem that I can help you, but I have to have the details.

Had the same problem here. Took it apart and found that several tracks in the ribbon cable from the keypad to the circuit board on which the LCD display is mounted were broken hence keypad needs to be replaced. Its part number is XA4331002 and available online from Sewing World. Have just finished fitting the replacement and keypad and sewing machine are working A1 OK.

I think White sewing machines are part of the Singer group.

Thanks for using fixya, Needle won't move due to following reason:-
1) Bobbin winder shaft was left in winding position. Please move bobbin winder shaft back to the left position and it will release the bobbin winder.Then you should be able to sew
2) Buttonhole lever was not lowered when machine was placed in buttonhole mode.You have to lower buttonhole lever.
3) Presser foot is up, Lower it.
4) Upper thread has run out, Thread machine.

I know this is strange, but make sure the pressure foot is down. When I quilt sometimes, after getting the bulk under the needle, I forget to put the pressure foot down or it get's knocked back up by the quilt and causes the same problem. Good luck.
