White Sewing 1418 Mechanical Sewing Machine - Page 2 Questions & Answers
I have a White model
Have you taken the raceway out that the bobbin case sits in ? that is where the problem probably is
I need the Manual for the White Sewing machine
go to this website link
http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals and type in W1418 to locate your manual as a free download. It is available there. You can download it as a pdf file, it will take a few seconds to load to screen so just wait. Then Save it to your PC. A good idea is to print it out (double sided if you can) and get it bound with covers so you've got a good hard copy to keep with the machine. I saw a great idea to keep manuals and machines together: get a large ziplok bag bigger than the manual and attach to the sewing machine case handle with a zip tie in one corner. Then you can drop the manual back into the bag when not needed and it will always stay with the machine! Hope this helps you out, 4 thumbs up if so. Happy Sewing, Tally Girl

Is it o.k. to use
Up to a point it is OK to use a heavier thread on the top with your regular thread on the bottom. If you go too heavy with the thread you might notice thread locks on the underside of material. Tightening the the tension on the top thread will usually solve this issue. However if thread is too lheavy you will not be able to adjust for tension issues. You may also find that a "too" heavy thread will catch under the throat plate. Good luck.

You can download a manual from here

As a rule of thumb, the thread usually comes off a bobbin goes through the tension then reverses direction back the other way. So as you pull the thread, the bobbin usually turns anticlockwise. But always check the manual to be sure.
The needle will not go
Can you move the heedle up and down by hand and is the motor running? If yes, is the clutch for the bobbin winder not disengaged?
I have been sewing fairly regularly. This morning
Hi, try adjusting the needle down a little. Cycle the needle until it is all the way down, and then loosen the screw up so you can move the needle, slide it down a little at a lime until it catches. The reason is your needle is too short.
I gave taken out the

After 3 or 4 stiches,
Either you are putting the bobbin in backwards. The thread should come off counter clockwise or the tension on the bobbin in too loose. I have done both several times in my lifetime.
