Timing is off
I checked my manual, and there is nothing about adjusting the timming. I'd call the White Co. at 1-800-331-3164 or go to

Yes, call "White" at 1-800-331-3164 or go to
www.whitesewing.com . You should be able to get another manual and video. The only way the serger is going to work properly, is to thread it properly. I've learned the hard way. After 2 days of persistence, I finally got it. Good luck and I hope this helps you.
Replacement lightbulb, model 1500, 12v6W
Here is the toll free number to White. 1-800-331-3164 or go to
www.whitesewing.com. Perhaps you can order the part. I have a Sears Kenmore sewing machine. My light bulb went out after 35 years. Can you believe it?? I finally found the bulb at a local sewing machine center however, they wanted $9.00 per bulb.. Walmart, Target, Joanns etc., did not have the bulb. I called the sears part center and obtained the bulb there. The cost was $4.00 for a pack of 2. After all the hunting I did, the S&H was well worth it. Good luck and I hope this helps you.
Just recieved
I bought mine about 5 years ago and am just now setting it up. Sergers for me are intimidating but after 2 days, I managed to get it threaded correctly. I have the model 1600. Here is the toll free number 1-800-331-3164 or go to
www.whitesewing.com. You should be able to pick up a manual and the instructional video. With that being said, it still took me 2 days to figure it out. Now that I have things in the correct working order, I love my serger and am sorry it took me so long to get it out and use it. Gook Luck hope this helps you.
Can't get a straight stitch. too loopy.
yes, a greater number will be more tension, i find it helps to use four different color of threads so that it is easier to see the change in the adjustment that you make. be positive that the machine is threaded correctly and the thread is IN the tension disc, very easy to overlook. hopes this helps

when you get to the end of you stitching continue sewing for a few inches off the fabric (this will not hurt the serger) making a tail of just stitches and you will be able to clip the string and take your fabric off the serger- the threads should be wraped around the looper as you described. Let me know if this works for you
I can't narrow the serged edge width to do a narrow rolled edge
There are 3 things that come to mind for me. I should say that I have a Bernina 1300DC, so your machine may not have the same parts, but check these things. First, are you using 3 threads? If so, is your needle in the narrowest setting, in the right hand hole closest to the body of the serger? Secondly, is your rolled edge lever retracted? This lever is attached to a wide tooth that holds the width of the seam in place. It is under the presser foot, between the loopers, and should retracted so that the stitches are allowed to become narrow. If your machine doesn't have this lever, don't worry, you can also try a third thing. Adjust your cutting width to a narrow setting. There should be a knob that moves the upper cutting knife from right to left-- right being a wider seam, leaving more of the fabric intact, and left making a narrower seam that trims off more of the fabric as you sew.
Hope this helps!

Tension on my white apeedylock 1600
Is there a thread guide printed inside the machine? have you asked your friends? When you've exhausted every avenue, take it to a dealer and ask them to show you how.
Can see alot of thread at the seam
Sounds like your needle threads are not tight enough.
Do some samples using different colored threads, if necessary, to see which needle thread is not doing the job. Then tighten in increments till you get the right tension settings.
It helps if you make notes of the correct settings on that material for the next time. Start a sample notebook, for the different materials you might use with tension settings for each, and if you do any fancy stuff with your serger, like pintucking, puffing, elastic application, ruffling and such.

You did not say it jammed from thread or just stopped working.
If it is thread, then you will need to carefully use embroidery scissors with a sharp point or a razor blade to cut at the lump of threads and carefully pull them out with your tweezers till you clear the mess. Use your vacuum to get all bits out of there, being careful and not hitting the loopers. You can knock them out of alignment with thread jams and such.
If it just stopped and you cannot turn the wheel, then it needs a trip to the repair shop, either your dealer or to a sew and vac repair where they know how to service sergers.
My serger is jamming and
wish some body had answered because I think I'm suffering the same fate. Sew two inches and break the needles
Do I need a new part?
The thread can strip either on the the screw or the bar it goes into, usually it is just the just the screw, get a new screw and put just a small drop of nail polish on the thread this will prevent it from coming loose.
Serger not getting power
First the basic tests....
The cable is securely inserted to wall and machine and both switched on ?
Have you tried a different socket and tried something you know works in the one you want to sew from ?
If the socket is OK, then it would be a good idea to have it seen to by someone qualified........it may just be a fuse, but it may be more serious, and as this is electricity, not to be messed with I suggest.
