My GE 29893GE1-B speakerphone won't let me hear messages

You may have messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when people call while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

Can i retrieve a message

Hi,

Sorry to hear that you lost an important message on your machine.

Unfortunately, 99% of these machines in use to day store their messages in "memory", and once the message are deleted, there is no way to get them back. This is because the memory space is deleted to make space for new messages to come in. Also, each manufacturer uses their own (different) method to store and retrieve these messages, so there is no "universal" way of getting these messages back.

Again, I'm sorry for your loss and for having to give you this news.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

How can I retriev messages

Greetings:
To retrieve your messages from another phone call your telephone number and when you hear the beep enter your 3-digit security code (if you haven't set it the default code is 1 2 3). The answering machine will beep to confirm the code. You can skip the greeting by entering the security code anytime during the greeting.
To hear your messages locally press and release the PLAY/STOP button. To stop playback, press and release PLAY/STOP again. To restart the message that is playing, press and hold PREVIOUS until the message restarts. To replay the previous message, press and release PREVIOUS. To play the next message, press and release NEXT.
Hope it's all good news - Thank you for using FixYa.com.

Need to retrieve my messages

Ms. - I'm so sorry for your loss.
The least difficult and technical way to retrieve the messages to save would be to buy a digital voice recorder as shown here on Amazon.com
or any larger store that sells consumer electronics. There's no need for expensive as spending more money would not get you any better quality recordings of your son's messages. The only feature you require is that the device have a USB connection so you could connect it to your PC and save the recordings to your PC hard drive.
Before you start recording messages be aware that because the messages are digital you can replay them as many times as you need to to get the right quality withou causing them any damage.
To start saving the messages you would place the microphone of the digital recorder over the phones speaker on the left side of the phone at about a distance of 4 to 6" to start. The manual for the digital recorder probably would give you specific advice about this.
The recorder works like a minauture tape recorder. To start recording messages press the RECORD button on the digital recorder, a few seconds later hit the phones PLAY/STOP button to begin the message. When the message is finished hit the phones PLAY/STOP button and then the stop button on the recorder. You've recorded the first message. It's a good idea to rewind the recorded message and play it to make sure the quality is adequate (it should not be much different from the original in quality) If it's OK, move on, recording the messages one by one until you are finished.
To save the messages permanently you would plug the recorder into a USB port on your computer and copy the files to the hard drive. As a precaution, please copy the files over to another medium also, either burning them to a CD or DVD or copying them to a USB thumb drive.
I hope this has been helpful. I hope your healing has begun.
Peace, Mikeywaf

Need to program numbers in speed dial (or replace lost manual).

Hi,

If you go to the following webpage there is a link to the manual:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005NGRJ/plaza101-20/ref=nosim/

It is under the 'Product details' section. The section on managing the memory start on page 34.

To change a stored number you just follow the initial instructions, namely:

1. Press the STORE button. ENTER TEL. NO. is displayed.

2. Use the keypad to enter the phone number. If you
want to add spaces instead of dashes in the number,
it will dial correctly.
• To scroll forward or backward, use NEXT or
PREVIOUS.
• To erase the current digit, press ERASE.

3. When finished, press STORE. ENTER NAME is
displayed.

4. Use the keypad to store a name (up to 16 characters).
More than one letter or character is available in each
of the number keys. For example, to enter the letter
“A,” press the 2 key once. For a “B,” press the same
key twice. For a “C,” press it three times.
• To add a space, press NEXT.
• To scroll forward or backward, use NEXT or
PREVIOUS.
• To erase the current digit, press ERASE.

5. When finished, press STORE. MEMORY LOCATION is
displayed.

6. Press the memory location number (0-9 or A, B, C) to

I hope this helps you.

Callers get response ' memory full', but unit itself shows empty

Try unplugging the phone from the phone jack and power adapter and remove any batteries. Wait 15 minutes and reconnect everything to see if the problem is cleared.
