Ge washer stop working after plugged in while on.

Hi Teresa: The very first basic thing to check is the power outlet. Please plug something else into that outlet (like a lamp, or blender, or iron) to make sure it still has power. Why? Often the washer outlets are on a unique circuit breaker that can be reset. IF it does have power, then unplug the washer, wait 10 minutes, open the washer door first, and then plug it back in, and give it a try. Any luck?

Is water supposed to enter the tub during the first half of the final spin cycle (not rinse cycle)?

no spin cycle don't have water it could be the pump is not getting the water out fast enough, could be clogged or the rear drain pipe is blocked or bent. failing them to problems it could be the valve its self.

Can a faulty lid switch cause a washer to spin but not drain

Hum only means something is blocked mechanicaly. Not likely lid switch since it cuts power when lid is open.

I broke down and had a technician come and fix it for me. It ended up being a loose wire in the panel.

The washer doesn't spin

Possible that the belt is slipping due to overload, check the capacitor to the motor , check the belt to the motor, check if the spindle is jammed , if so reset the spindle.

How to replace the plastic water tub on a GE WBSE3120B2WW washer

Here is a video of a guy changing out a transmission. It is everything you will be doing. But you will probably run into problems he doesn't cover. I can help you with those, i've done plenty of these. The only special tool you will need is a spanner wrench which he will show you. I gave up on those and now use an impact wrench with a 1 11/16" socket. But you can get one like the one he shows on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313&_nkw=WB5X1325&_sacat=0&_from=R40 Those are really the only tools that will work on that nut. You'll want to check it first though it could be deteriorated enough that you will have to drill, chisel and cuss your way through it anyway. On the other hand if it's a fairly new or little used machine it might be easy peasy. Otherwise you'll need a 7/16, 3/8, 1/2 and 3/4 socket and ratchet. Air tools make it zip right along but are by no means necessary. The parts you will have to replace along the way are the hub nut and tub seal (Do not try to use the old seal, it never works) and possibly some dampening straps and one 8" plastic zip tie.Good luck. Let me know when you run into difficulty. One last thing in the video he shows after removing the hub nut the absolutely best way to break the seal between the tub and basket. That method only occasionally works for me however. What he doesn't show is what is sealing the tub to the basket. It's a build-up of a cement like substance created i suppose by soap residue. Regardless don't use a penetrating oil on that area. Water (the hotter the better, but not boiling) works best and even then you gotta dig and keep diggin and adding water until you finally break thru, it's only about 1/2" thick, but i've wrestled for an hour on more than one. So keep a cool head and stay after it, you can do it. Besides it might pop right off.

Filled with water and then started smoking

sounds like the motor has stuck and the windings have gone up in smoke ,better off maybe buying a new machine as it may be cheaper in the long run
