sounds like electric heating element issue to me. Your gas dryer doesn't have electric heating elements which might explain your problem

Dryer stops tumbling, but heating element stays on

Usually when an electric dryer overheats it's because of a defective cycling thermostat or a clogged vent system. Clean any lint from the internal and external ductwork, and/or replace the cycling thermostat

Loud Grinding Noise when Tumbler Rotates

Ok, these GE's sometimes have a problem with the front guides bearings going bad, and then the drum starts to eat into the top of the door hole and sides. That is probably what is making your noise. Before you spend a lot of time fixing something that cant be fixed, open the dryer door and look up in each top corner of the opening. Look to be sure the drum hasnt eaten its way through that area. If so, scrap it, because it will eat your clothes badly, and the front panels are to expensive. If not, UNPLUG YOUR MACHINE PLEASE, then standing facing the dryer, open the door, and remove the two screws that are in the top of the door housing area (not the door itself, these would be up by where I told you to look for damage). These screws hold down the top. After removing these screws, lift up on the cabinet top, and pull GENTLY towards you until the top clears the console guide posts in the top rear. After removing the top, inside the cabinet, on either side and at the top, you will see a phillips head screw that holds the front to the cabinet. Remove these screws, and fold the front towards you slowly, removing any wires that may be holding up the swing out (i.e. door switch, light wires, etc., be sure you remember the way the wires reattach). When you look at the top of where the drum rides, you will see a plastic ring with smaller like plastic flat peices that the drum rides in. More than likely, you will have to replace both parts. The ring separates in the center, and is replacable (you should only have to replace the top half). The drum guides are the smaller plastic type guides that just slide in. Reassembly is reverse. Let me know if you need further help. Jim

I need to use my GE Dryer now today, but dryer door switch doesn't work.

To do that today, you would need to do the following for older dryers. Turn off the power by pulling the plug From the back remove the console. Remove the top Undo the two screws at the kick strip Carefully remove the front remembering there are wires. Short the wires together and tape them up. Put it all back together. For modern dryers. Some are surface mount and just pull out. Order the part, DON'T leave it like that! ..

Ge dryer older model belt won't get tight , idler arm not enough tension on belt, can't figure out how idler arm works . No tension

The reason for this will be that you have mis-routed the belt or that the spring on the idler arm is weak or has broken / dropped off. The idler pulley puts tension on the back edge of the belt. What made the loud noise will be the key to this. My bet is that you lost the spring or an idler arm mounting bolt.

My dryer is squeaky. it's a GE model number

It depends on what is making the squeaking noise. Could be drum bearing, drum slides, tensioner pulley, pr even the leveling legs sometimes squeak.

I have a GE 572D676G002-5KH26GJ115S. I was using it as a sander. I dropped the motor from my work table (about 3 feet). Now it will not start

When it hit the floor you have probably knocked something loose inside the motor itself. You will need to check it spins freely by hand and check the carbon brushes for the armature. You may also need to strip the motor down to check all the wiring connections inside the motor.

Why does my GE Dryer trip the main breaker after about 10 minutes of being on?

If it smalls 'fishy', it is overheating at the motor windings. That would not cause the dryers thermal fuses to trip. Dryers don't normally have an internal breaker. Remove the motor, strip and clean it. Lubricate the bearings. It should spin very freely.
