My dryer sounds like there are metal balls rolling around inside when clothes are drying

Sounds like the rollers are worn out. If they are fine then see if the dryer has glides on the drum.

How to replace ge dryer heating element

you will need to remove the drum for this one.  once it is out, the element is mounted on the back of the unit.  not a hard repair, just lay out the parts as you take it apart to give you some order as you re-assemble it.

Dryer Squeaking/ Squealing

Could be a worn belt or, if it occasionally sounds like metal on metal, the felt that the drum spins against is probably worn through and needs to be replaced...

Have a G.E. DRYER PDVH515 . It squeeks, roughly on every rotation of drum. Not a consistant long noise. It's been going on for some time now so wondering if greater damaged may be done? Thankyou

The sound is most likely from the rear drum teflon bearing failing. It may also be the front teflon glides. Or both. The problem is not going to get better and will gradually get worse. You won't do any real damage if you continue to use the dryer. However, if the sound stops being a squeak, and sounds more like a grinding, metal to metal sound, stop using it and call the repairman.

Drum motor wont start

Hi don keenerALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt, or the belt may have slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley, faulty capacitor, or a faulty motor.Note: This method works for most front loading machines. If you have to check/replace/repair your drum motor, drum seals, belt, rollers, etc.If replacing drum seals be sure to use a good grade of weather proof cement to hold the seal/s in place, some seals are furnished with the cement to glue it in place.Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer if necessary. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch or other electrical connections. Remove the lint filter and the two screws that hold the filter housing to the top of the dryer lid. Then remove the top of the dryer by inserting a screwdriver between the top and frame on each side of the dryer to pop the lid up from the retaining clips.Note: Some of the tops tilt backwards on a type of hinge and do not have to be removed completly.Remove the front of the machine by disconnecting the door switch and removing the two screws located on either side of the dryer frame.Move the door and front of machine forward to remove. This will expose the belt, idler bracket and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.Note:The way the belt goes back on is, as the belt comes off the drum has to be doubled (pushed together to form a loop) and goes under the idler pulley then to the motor pulley. Here is a link to see a picture of your belt routing in case the belt is broken when you open your dryer:http://www.expertappliance.com/dryerbeltconfiguration.html While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you remove and lubricate the drum rollers. And also clean the shafts of the rollers as they will collect hair, dust, etc and cause problems and then lubricate the shafts and rollers with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil or a vasoline type of lubricant. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting dry and making a squeeling noise, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them. Please take time to rate me Bud

I have an electric Ge Performance Wizard Dryer and on the button panel to space over the start button is broken.

get it fixed. it might not be a easy job as electronics are a problem if you do something wrong, it would make something else break. OR just deal with it if it works fine, but a button broken...life isn't perfect.

Hours to dry. I have a GE Profile Wizard model DPSE592EA2WW electric dryer that barely gets warm and takes hours to dry a single load.

as i do not have diagram of your dryer i can only guess for you,(i am not an expert.) The element is usually in the back of the drum (at air intake). Air is blown in, heated, then goes out the opposite side where it is vented.does it heat any better at another temp setting, say MED. opposed to HIGH? This may help temporarily. Replacing element isn't hard if you are mechanically "handy", but you may first want to consider the the age of the dryer, cost of a new part, and your time. Often a used dryer is a worthwhile alternative. To replace:Remove screws to remove back panel. The heating element should look something like a flat hair dryer (basically that's what it is).If your lucky your part will come with instructions, but this would be the exception. The unit should slide or clip to plug in and out. Screws aren't usually used in this application.IF YOU HAVE A MULTITESTER, AND THE KNOW HOW, YOU CAN CHECK FOR CONTINUITY AND RESISTANCE THROUGH THE TEMP SWITCH. This will give you an idea if the element is your problem. It should be one of the two. Hope I've helped.

Power is good, all lights

Take the top panel off then check the continuity of the thermostats on the heater housing. Replace all of the thermostats if any of them is found open. Check the resistance of the thermistor on the blower housing if no problem is found with the thermostats. Replace the thermistor if shorted (low resistance) or open (infinite resistance).
