Dimplex has a Service Manual for your Heater. I recommend requesting the manual through their Literature Request website. I located the owner's manual and the troubleshooting guide via their website, but it appears you will need to request the Service Manual.
This is caused by High Resistance. Causes of high resistance could include:
- poor connection....the wall socket may need to be replaced. If you plug it into a couple of other sockets in the house and it continues to overheat, then it is probably NOT the socket.
- broken wires in the cord near the plug end.....replace the plug or the entire cord. NOTE: it is important to make sure the new cord has the proper gauge wire for the amount of amperage on the load.
I hope you find this helpful to you. Good Luck in your endeavor! :-)
heater is drawing to many amps for the heater to run correctly check the circuit it is on and possibly move to a different location on a circuit that has more amps from panel box.
The blower is controlled by a thermostat and will only come on when it's hot. If still does not come on check thermostat.

Hello. It could be possible that a piece or some of the foil that gives the flame effect has fallen down on the motor, that creates the heat. This could be causing the noise. I would not think this is an electrics problem.
I would ensure the electric fire is disconnected from any power supply and either open the heater myself or get a electrical specialist to have a look. Then you will see exactly what is happening. A piece of foil may be visible which is catching the motor.
If you decide to tackle the problem yourself write down how to put the heater back together as you take each part out. These parts would be covers etc. It can easily get confusing. That is important.

question edited for clarity.
Air conditioning will often dim the power a bit as the compressor draws a lot of power. It may be that your Start Capacitor has failed and this is why you are noticing it, plus the fact you don't hear the compressor running. The water doesn't drip because there is no frost and no condensate. You need a refrigeration guy. It is quick to diagnose and they keep start capacitors in the van. Call out plus 30 minutes.
Sad...
The bulbs called for (60W) do get VERY hot...
(but the owners manual I found indicate a 60W
USA style lamp... (appeared to be a E16 (Edison)).
Euro lamps have higher voltage
(and FRANKLY speaking) better heat tolerance...
If you are terribly in love with this unit.. I would first
suggest calling the "SUPPORT" to see if their
"ENGINEERING" already has a solution...
ELSE you should be looking for a couple CERAMIC
(like glazed porcelain) sockets and prepare to
FIELD ENGINEER a proper/safe remedy...
My best suggestion...
Call support
Dimplex Obsidian OBS20 User Manual Page 9
Then contact your favorite hardware... (or LAMPS +)
and ASK the MOST COMMON clear candelabra bulb socket
That sports a CERAMIC type socket... E12 or E14 ...
When I was "converting" a Spanish chandelier..
I used GLAZED Porcelain "EDISON twelves" (E12).
> Keyless Porcelain Adjustable Candelabra Candle Socket
eBay
FINELED E12 Mini Candelabra Screw ceramic lampholder socket with 10 inch...
